Midweek Fixtures - 21st/22nd/23rd August

What is the winslow budget ? Be carefully in answering mate as I no a lot lol .

Well having heard that Perry has approached players and they've asked what money he has and he's said none, I'd say none, club has none maybe he might dip in his own pocket I don't know. If we had budget we'd have a lot of players that we don't. Some players have individual sponsors paying for kit boots etc.. So I'd say we have zero budget and if we had any I'd be shouting from roof tops. I speak to Chairman on regular basis. I'd say I know a fair bit too ;-). I'd love us to have a budget.

Tuesday 21st August

DIVISION ONE

0-0 Harpenden Town v Langford

A report on this one from another Forum:

South Mids Div One - Harpenden Town 0-0 Langford, 4 quid in, 50p for the proggie. 1.70 for ham/salad roll and 80p for a tea.

at Rothamsted Park

Att; 37 (official).

Harpenden had been on my radar for a while, but the thought of M25 northbound from work in Slough had always deterred me. But with it still being school holidays I risked it, and the M25 was fine.

Also time for a tasty pint of Tring Brewery's 'Jack 'O' Legs', in the GBG listed Cross Keys, 5 min walk from the ground.

I'd seen 35 games since my last 0-0, and typically I'd been wondering just yesterday how many games it'd been, as soon as I think it, it happens, s*ds law I guess!

In truth it was a decent game, played out by 2 teams that should be near the top of this division at seasons end I reckon. Both defended very well, but Langford had the better of the play, and possibly deserved to snatch it near the end. Harpenden have played 4 league games so far and are yet to concede! The Langford No 4 (Gleghorn), decent player, but v feisty was lucky to stay on the pitch, 4/5 borderline tackes, and every time he got pulled up by the ref, he argued it like his life depended on it, protesting like a spoilt child. He got booked, but continued in the same manner.

I liked Rothamsted Park, a fully enclosed tree lined ground in a public park. A small stand only, but nice rural feel in what felt a fairly well to do town.

The clubhouse looked like it'd seen better days, but I respected the fact they charged 50p for their thin programme, but with nice colour cover, unlike Quorn by the sound of it!

A rabbit took up residence in the goal area during the 1st half, and was pretty oblivious until the play got within 20 feet of him, before he scuttled back into the bushes, before then making a run for it across the pitch.

Wednesday 22nd August

DIVISION ONE

5-0 Chesham United Reserves v Kentish Town

A brief report on this one from another Forum.

SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE DIV. 1

Chesham United Reserves 5-0 Kentish Town

Admission £4.00 Prog £1.00 Crisps, Lion & hot chocolate £2.70 (twice)

With no points and no goals for either side, something had to give and it was Chesham who basically tore their visitors apart and left them in dire straits, even at this early stage.

No hot food tonight, though I am assured that the kitchen will be in operation for my next visit, pencilled in for 11th September (FA Cup replays permitting).
