Played my first game for Totternhoe today and came away with a 3-1 win at Bletchley. 1 up at half time and also hit the post. Added 2 more and hit the bar in the second half before Bletchley woke up had a few chances in the last 20 mins. They pulled one back in injury time but still good to pick up 3 points on the opening day

 

well done mate how was they after ?

 

Players I spoke to seemed ok, although I think they were expecting to beat us. Only saw Bletchley once last year so don't know how different the team is this season.

 

Decent crowd for a Division 2 game (62), higher than a lot of the FA Cup ties and Div 1 too

Got off the train in bright sunshine, walked to the ground and the heavens opened and I got a good soaking. The rain continued throughout the opening half, the downside of which meant that the main stand was full(ish) of people quoting Premier League scores. I opted for the opposite side and the small cover between the 2 dugouts - what a mistake, the rubbish that these idiots spout is unbelievable. Particularly on this occasion the intelligentsia that made up the visitors bench.

 

The game started with Welwyn on top, New Bradwell had one attack and were one scrappy goal ahead. More Welwyn pressure saw an equaliser from the spot from the games outstanding player, home No. 10 D. Smith. Howls of derision at the award of the spot kick from Mr Magoo and pals on the visitors bench. Even from 40 yards away the push on the attacking player was obvious. a mis-hit cross then floated in to give Welwyn a 2-1 HT lead.

 

2nd half saw almost total domination from the hosts, wasting several guilt edged chances, typically the visitors sneaked a late, undeserved equaliser to grab a share of the points. A pity really as a home victory would have seen them replace New Bradwell at the top of the League table.

 

When will Referees ever act against foul and abusive language? When a free kick wasn't awarded to the home side, a home player screamed "F... Off Ref" - perhaps the Referee didn't hear it? He did, he blew his whistle, ordered the player to him (and then went to the offender instead) and politely asked him not to say it again. Pathetic.
