I know it aint a BTFC topic but still think we have some mileage in this. Last night may just be the best thing this football mad country could have seen !

 

Time for these clueless bigwigs to to go back to grass roots. Stop all these foreign players coming in and put some of that vast cash received into real grass root level.

 

One thing i think was paramount last night...Those players are earning upwards of £30k a week (as a starter - + appearance + sponsership - it goes on) - No hunger, no desire.

 

Mclaren will walk with £2.5mio ?? - What could you do with that sort of cash (eg) improving facilities for kids football?

 

We met Brian Barwick at Hampton at last seasons FA Cup game - Another reason this country has gone backwards !

 

And to rub salt in the wounds...(And i bet it goes on) - there will be some of those England players departing from their hotel today talking amongst one another saying "great we can have a right pee up in shagaluff this summer"

 

Roll on Saturday - Cos at least at our level players can be related to still.

The foreign players @ English clubs also get paid top dollar, but still go out and do it for their country: like Croats goal scorers last night. And Sven seemed to do a better job than MacL, & he had to cope with the same foreign influx in the Premiership.

 

Truth is it was a management failure; at MacL's level in terms of coaching & at the FA for putting the wrong man in charge.

 

Money in itself is not a good motivator. No matter what those players are earning they still need a boss who can press the right buttons to get the best out of them.

Mclaren had to go. no question about it, the team/tactical choices and result form last night made it easier for the FA to justify their decision.

 

The appointment of Mclaren was a mistake by the FA, and had the FA come out this morning and admitted they made a mistake it would have been a step in the right direction.

 

How can things improve if the FA can't see that our non qualification is in the most part, their own fault

I do feel a tiny amount of sympathy for Mclaren, if you compare what he had to work with, with what Sven had... Sven imho squandered the best squad England have had since 1990, unfortunately those players have faded (Owen, Campbell, Beckham, Scholes), disappeared up their own ar$es (Gerrard and Lampard) or are permanently injured (Hargreaves), and nobody is coming through.

 

How many young England players have made the step up in the past 18 months under Mac? I can think of one - Micah Richards. This left us with the likes of Lescott and Bridge. And Defoe and Bent are not, and never will be, international strikers.

 

Of course the tactics were rubbish, and as we've said before at non-league level, a team of average players can make themselves good by a)being organised at the back and working hard. England managed neither.

IMO the most frightening aspect is that IF England had held on for a draw last night, the FA would have done FA, and McClown would still be in charge

Until we accept that England no longer produce genuine world class players, we'll get no where.

 

Bring back the 4 foreigner rule. Wage cap players.

 

PS, none of the above will happen.

 

Anyway, Steve McClaren is going to the England Xmas party dressed as a pumpkin... he's hoping someone can turn him into a [****!!****] coach!
