It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that Vic died this morning in Southend Hospital. His family was with him at the time and, according to Pat, he slipped away very peacefully.

Vic had been fighting cancer of the oesophagus for several months now and although he knew the prospects were bleak, always remained cheerful. His greatest wish was to get out to the new home he had bought in Turkey and, thankfully, he and Pat managed to spend several weeks holiday there quite recently.

Some people enjoy their football with a beer in one hand and banging the drum with the other. Vic always preferred to stand in a quiet group and discuss the finer points of the game. He was very knowledgeable about his football and took it seriously. He loved Canvey and we spent many hours discussing the rights and the wrongs of team selection and who was in or out of form.

We’ll miss you Vic. God bless you ol' friend.

Sorry to hear that.

Really nice guy. Gave me a lift on several occasions to away games a few seasons back when a coach wasn't running.

RIP.

I'm genuinely shocked at this news!

Vic was always keen to talk CIFC and it was always positive and constructive. I spoke to him at Park Lane before he went on holiday and he was pleased at the way we looked this season.

RIP
