This voting to the pick side lark

It can only work to the detriment of the team.

As I understand it, and no doubt I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, Liam will have to put up a report which includes his team selection and tatics for the next match.

I'm told not to worry about this because the majority of members will vote for the managers choice. SORRY, WRONG, WORST THING THAT YOU CAN DO!!!!!

Every manager in the BSP will either be a member or will have had his wife join up. He/she will be able to take notes, and lo and behold the opposition know exactly who is going to be playing and in what position.

I asked Andy Ford whether this would give him an advantage if he were the opposition manager, and he told me that of course it would.

As far as I can see this means that there are only two options:

1. Everyone votes for something other than the manager's choice so that the final line up is not known until the team sheet is in.

2. Liam puts up a completely bogus report, everyone votes for it and then Liam puts out his real side.

Rather defeats the object doesn't it?

The reasonable members realise this won't happen(Part 1 of my signature!).

The numpties(part 2 of my signature), will soon spit their dummies out, when they have no say, and leave!

The Kaching brigade(the....you get the picture), coulduse this information and pass it on to interested parties!

Then again!

I am so wrong! whistle

My understanding (and it is only mine) is that the 'head coach' will not make any 'recommendations' in terms of selection. If a situation were to arise that the 'coach's' selection was picked every week it would be pointless to have MyFC members picking the team. By not making a 'recommendation' it eliminates? the problem of people viewing the forum. Will this work and how will it work - I don't know. I am one of the MyFC members who thinks this is not the best idea - but I am very much in the minority.

As regards the actual selection. I couldn't but I am sure that if a poll was taken on here as to what the team should be next Saturday - most people would pick the same basic 11 with the possible exception of one or two players (In fact it might be no harm to try it and see what happens). I think this is what will end up happening in some form or other with the vote.

I think most people in the football world would agree.. If this was dropped along with tranfer voting the concept becomes more workable and acceptable, however thats the hook to get the punters in. twill be interesting what happens if this is unworkable as it sounds. wonder what the myfc chaps will do.

Believe me, every Home game there are 1000(or what ever the attendance should be!)managers standing on the terraces..........They can't agree on the best eleven. Hence the derision of the promise that 20,000 will be able to do the same!

A few sensible members realise that.............But a few have no say.....according to the Myfc Charter!..........The Wisdom of the Crowd prevails!

It will add a 3rd (or fourth) dimension to the blame game. Can you blame the managers tactics, or is the shareholders fault, either way it's pathetic situation the club has fallen into. Very easily can turn Daish into a puppet to keep his own job, maybe that is why he is so keen on the MyFC group.

So in my understanding, it comes down to three possibilities, either (a) The manager will NOT make any recommendations and the team will get picked by 20,000 people most of whom will have never seen any of the games, (B) the manager DOES make recommendations for anybody with £35 to see, or © The manager will basically pick whatever team he likes and put them in whatever formation he sees fit to, thus incurring the wrath of the myfc members who were enticed on the promise of own your team, pick your team.

Which will it be?

I would think there would be a transitional period where the Manager would communicate with the MFC members by word or Youtube style presentation.

The MFC members would get to know the players and the Manager's style/preferences.

Eventually the Manager would outline the injured players who are unavailable and give a precis on the upcoming opposition and theor strengths/weaknesses.

He would declare the players available and by then the MFC memnvers should have some idea of each palyer's strenghts/weaknesses and positional preferences.

Next step would be an uninterfered with vote by each MFC member.

The strength of numbers would suggest a sensible team selected by consensus.

The MFC members would see success or failure and have to accept the consequences of their decision.

The coach would then come on line for the next game and give his observations re the selections and how well they worked,

And so the process would evolve...the members (note I'm not using the term "owners") would build up a bank of experience and given their interest in the sport should make logical decisions as the season progresses.

If it works....great.

If it doesn't work then its no different to the current situation where the Manager ends up getting sacked for HIS poor selections/tactics throughout the season.

This is an opportunity where the members can take responsibility for their consensus judgement rather than the usual white anting of the management/executive that takes place in a lot of clubs in the Bar after any disappointing result.

Go to other Forums and see where contributors/fans(?) will bay for the blood of the coach after a couple of losses...then go all quite when the team picks up a win or two.

My understanding is that there would be a 'Let the manager decide' option when it comes to voting. That way the manager does not have to make known what his formation and tactics are. Therefore none of the three possible outcomes Chris posted above would arise.

Can't you just imagine the scene at the 73rd minute..... Substitutes are being considered.......

The manager has his iPhone permanently on to the website, and calls out " Get Number 9 off, he's just been substituted by 8753 votes to 8046. Belay that - No he hasn't, another 1800 votes have just come in to keep him on, but I've been sacked and the big bird off Big Brother has been appointed as the new Manager!".......

Oh well, let everyone ( I am not entitled to vote as I am only a current Shareholder & Season ticket holder etc....!) pick that option now and we can return to normal ( and CG can save £35 !!)

Cheers,
