v Ramsgate

I would scarcely have called George's goal a "30 yarder", and certainly not a volley!

George picked the ball up in midfield and ran at the defence, seeing off a couple of weak challenges, before lashing a swerving shot from nearer 20 yards than 30. A good strike, but not quite as spectacular as the Beeb obviously made it sound!.

George's 1st goal was a good strike as well. Received the ball just inside the penalty area, and having been given a yard of space , turned and hit a strong left foot shot through the legs of a defender leaving the keeper helpless.

Against that standard of opposition (as his spell at Heybridge also demonstrates), he is capable of destroying the opposition - he just needs to carry that forward and prove he is capable of destroying Blue Square Premier defences in the same way.

Akinde's was a decent strike as well - he looked very casual at times tonight, and even for the goal, he didnt look as though he was likely to shoot - having received the ball on the right corner of the penalty box, his first touch took him back across the defender and his second was a shot that arrowed into the keepers bottom left corner.

Sacha had his usual storming game and led by example.

Lance made several good saves, although some of Ramsgates shooting made it easy for him - 2 one on ones were placed straight at him & one of those was more a back pass than a shot, it was so weak. We were, however, caught square at the back too many times tonight, partly I think due to Saunders inexperience.

Ramsgate werent a bad side, but as you would expect, werent quite able to cope with us when we did decide to play a neat passing game.

All in all, a good work out for several fringe and Youth players - the experience can only do them good.

I was only going by what the commentary said. This reinforces the point that many labour on here that you can't really comment about incidents if you aren't there.

Agree with Scott. Some very good passing going on against a spirited Ramsgate side. Although their goalkeeper's kicking was a little to be desired, I thought in the 2nd half he stopped at least 3 certain goals. Well done lads. I smell siverware.

"On the indusrial estate" is all the nice policeman told me when I eventually got to the Plough roundabout only to be turned round, by the time I got in I'd missed the first goal.

Entertaining game for sick squids nice movement and a couple of decent goals (that I saw). Lee Maskell impressed me of the irregulars (Sasha was his usual 110% regardless of the status of the game and his own health) did all the simple things very well and calmly.

Ahhh..the Bumstring...painful injury that saw me sit out three games in the Third Grade team of our 4th Division Club.

I would have thought that with that injury you would have been happier standing

It's a shame that the fan base has been reduced to approx 200.

When you see this few at a match, regardless of competition, you have to wonder who the true and loyal fans are. Sorry for being petulent chaps but I get annoyed when it's voiced that we have increase the gate numbers.

A great game enjoyed it. Cost just £6, good value entertainment. Georgie Purcell and The French Resistence (Sacha) were really giving their all. Well done to all the lads for giving us such a great game. Now looking forward to Saturday.

To all who will not be coming to anymore Fleet matches. BYE BYE. excited
