Horror injury yesterday

Played Sunday football yesterday, and 15 minutes in, 1 of our midfielders gets injured in a meaty looking tackle with 1 of their players. Arrived at the ball same time as their player and crunched shins!! Heard a huge crack like a shin pad snapping. Ouch!!

He screamed in agony... He went to lift his leg only to find the upper part of the leg moved but the bottom stayed. I knelt down and held the leg to support it until an Ambulance arrived.

He was carted off to hospital an hour later. Ref abandoned the game.

Latest reports are he has broken both the Tib and Fib. Clean break.

Rest of the team were absolutely gutted for him. Nice lad.

Has anyone else suffered an injury like this?? Will the lad ever return to football with such a terrible injury?

Makes you think how easy it is to get badly injured.

We had a player suffer the same over at Horley Town about 4 years ago, he was a player nearing the end of his career and sadly this finished it for him. (The Horley physio and goalkeeper where superb in looking after him)

These are as you say horrific injuries and I feeling is he may well not get over the mental issues that go with it, yes I think he will play football again but sadly never the same player.

I hope he has a speedy recovery and wish him well

seen a nasty one on a sunday about 6 years ago. in an u16 game on damp pitch with one heavily boggy area on left touchline winger flies past his marker only for his standing leg to get stuck in the mud. momentum takes the rest of him forward, bone through the skin not a pleasant sight at all.

Hope all goes well for him Johno.

Incidently, our eldest daughter suffered a very similar break whilst training the Dorking Under 16's a couple of years ago. It put her out of training for 6 months, and she still sometimes gets re-curring pain from the fracture, so I hope your guy mends well !
