On pretty much every thread (ok, exaggerated in the first line there - not good!) somebody is talking about 20,000 members of MyFC having the option for squad selection. I think if you accurately polled these 20,000, the vast majority of them want nothing to do with squad selection and hope that the manager completely ignores the votes and goes ahead with what he knows best and his own day-in, day-out dealings with the team.

Other than a few spanners here and there, nobody wants to have a direct influence in possibly screwing things up and if they want their money back for not having that chance then let 'em go.

I want the manager alone to make the decision and not be influenced by anybody other than his own personal staff (physio, etc) who plays when, where, etc.

Any MyFC member who disagrees with that really does need to just spend the money on Football Manager and keep out of the real thing.

Unfortunately the forums on their website is full of people saying they will leave if they cannot pick the team and overrule the manager or anyone else. Etiehr way it is bad - one way the members leave (money goes) or the other the Manager is overuled (weaker team).

I agree with you.

The majority of those posting on the myfc forum do not. Indeed if I signed up on the basis of the tagline I would be very annoyed if I did not get to pick the team. I am going to write an article on my site about the forum and have been collecting a few choice quotes. Quite a few have specifically said they will leave if they cannot pick the team.

Simple majority vote

The only restrcitions apply to certain decisions relating to the structures of MyFC - i.e. 75% have to vote in favour of the sale of the club etc.

If you go to the ground and the fleet play badly, I feel that you have every right to moan, complain about team selection etc, I do it most weeks, but mob rule over tactics a team picking naah Football is a game of opinions and they are as diverse as the people that will be voting, may get a majority vote, but will only be a average team, as voting means average.prob not right for the team and tactics that your playing against.

(A copy of my post about picking the team on MYFC forum some days ago)

How can WE pick the team in all honesty?

This is the one point about MYFC I totally disagree with.

A coach starts working on the next game as soon as the current game finishes - He looks at reports of the team he plays next and then channels his training at what he considers to be the next opponents weak points -

Players will be given individual instructions and training that week will be focussed on the next game plan.

If the coach/manager has to wait for us to pick the team, he will simply not have enough time to prepare the players for the next match.

If the coach has to come here and discuss what he considers to be the weaknesses of the the team in the next match - Then, no doubt every manager in this league will join MYFC to find out Ebbsfleet's tactics for that game.

Clearly, a coach needs a mandate to manage - to train and pick the team and to offer up surprises to each opposition he faces. I have heard only good things about the manager - Let him get on with the job he knows best

Let us make it our job to raise enough cash for him to get out of this league and into a higher standard of football.

Whilst I remain fervently against the whole MyFc takeover, nothing I have either seen or read will/has changed my mind, quite clearly a number of its members do have considerably more sense than others.

For example the recent post from 'CardinalSin' does make sense. There is absolutely no way 20,000+ people can pick a team, or for that matter the system the team plays etc. etc. Those decisions have to be left to the Manager or Team Coach, (I always thought that a was a long metal thing with 50+ seats in it) who has to either stand or fall by his decisons.

It was interesting to hear Duncan Holt say on Radio Kent on Saturday, and repeated again today, that in reality it will be Liam who is picking the team, and he for one wouldn't dream of interfering.

This from a Director seems to give Carte Blanche to Liam to ignore any vote to change his team and let him get on with his job as manager.

Love It!!

I would personally prefer a coaches choice button or similar when voting on team selection and the membership seems split on how this should work. The biggest problem MYFC has is that the tag line on all the promotion is "own the club, pick the team" so it will be hard to go back on that without upsetting a large number of members.

I have seen some suggestions that the interface will be something like the bbc team selector's.

There is significant number of MyFC members who have doubts about the whole team selection democracy thing. I for one think it's very suspect. Unfortunately, we also have the "purists", who want to doggedly stick to pure democracy on this issue for better or worse... However, you should not worry too much as I believe the team selection by members will be cut back in accordance with any problems. Within months you could end up with an almost "normal" manager, perhaps the membership in a Director of Football type role, plus the bonus of the cash injection, higher profile, and (hopefully) the name changed back to Gravesend & Northfleet if you fans hunger it enough.
