I must admit ,i can really see the sense in getting another right winger as we only have about 7 players who can fulfill that role at the moment.

The dear man has a fetish for forwards obviously.

At least,don't waste anymore money on wingers and get another midfield player for when Jay,Mckimm or Dean next get sent off or injured.

Its not as though we need a right back of course.Someone please tell Robin that Harte has 'left'.

 

I'm glad its taken from April until now to realise that a centre half is needed,and the reason that the defence keeps making clangers is that nothing has changed so you keep getting the same results.

Never like it when a manager or a Board member starts to blame the customers for not turning up.Maybe results and hearing the same old reasons for failure might have something to do with it?

 

Personally, i would have thought it a good job there is no midweek game-maybe some time could be spent trying to get some organisation into the defence -i think its called coaching-or don't we believe in that.That might just give a 10% improvement.

 

I do agree that the club are probably just a couple of players away from being a good side-the centre half position was known in April though;and personally, i would have thought a right back was pretty important.Mind you having just realised we need a centre half ,maybe Robin will become alert to that one next March.

I say again looking at his record unless its a loan deal he has no real contacts out there, the defence is what everythng is built on at the start of the season it should have been his priority it clearly was not!!!! now we are slipping further down the pecking order and I for one cannot see it changing

 

people are staying away, its great re the cva and the new 5 a side but to keep the club where it is and to push on, what happens on the park is the key to everything in the future. RT needs to be replaced asap sorry.

Get the RIGHT players in to do the job more professionally & THEN continue with the same back four.Continuing to use the same players in the wrong positions & with the same naivity will NOT improve things even if they are a regular back four - SORT IT Trotty !!

i)DONT YOU DARE TRY & TURN THIS ROUND & PUT IT DOWN TO THE LACK OF SUPPORT.

Take away the away fans & you STILL had a better turn out from the home fans than you have had for weeks. It was a chance for you all to shine & keep those fans coming back again & you certainly did excel on Saturday.ALAS not for the full 90 minutes though & thats where you let yourselves down.SORT IT Trotty!!

j)I entirely agree on that one!! As the manager you should see the errors that have been made,not just on Saturday but in some of the games leading up to the Maidstone match.

Me too Alan. Coasting at 3-1 is an understatement. We were ALL over them,playing fabulous football & had them under the cosh.We were looking to go on to win by even more goals.... but then...... Oh rollocks,its gone now. Time to move onto the next game. Lets just hope it dosen't happen so disastrously again.

Yes,even with being under pressure & on the back foot & holding on with a two goal advantage,with so little time left on the clock, a half decent defence SHOULD have done that on Saturday against a sub standard attack as they had.What was it,two tap ins from 1-2 yards out in goal mouth scrambles.(Where on earth their manager got their two set piece goals from dumbfounds me).

Herein lies our problem.We have to be quicker to the ball in those situations,plain & simple.Reactions need to be smarter.

We really are THAT close to a decent championship side I really do feel that.A play off side without a shadow of a doubt!

Can Trotty tweek this underachieving team into world beaters? Maybe not world beaters but something close to a really really good team I'm sure of it.I think he can.But can he do it NOW,without further delay! Now thats another question.

Your first response is spot on Cookie, as the one thing missing from RT seems to be any form of 'ownership' of the problem.He seems to be in denial that the problem has been generated by himself releasing defenders and not replacing defenders.

Those are very dangerous traits to have in a manager.

He is obviously under pressure, as people under pressure adopt stances`of blame ,excuses and denial.

Even if he said-hands up-i've cocked up over the defence,one's respect for him would increase.

 

I seem to remember in the summer,RT saying that he did not have to work as hard this summer as last in sorting the team.

I think that is fairly evident.

 

If he had worked a bit harder on getting in defenders for those he released,he could have been a hero by now; as with a decent centre half from start of season,and a bit of time spent organising a defence, we would certainly have accrued 6 more points and be riding high.

I am sure we will improve ,but fear we will fall just short again-exactly like last season,because RT did not act in the summer when he should have got this sorted.

Everyone else could see the problem then.Why could'nt he.

 

I can take losing,but when so much could have been avoided, thats what disheartens .

To be fair too RT (despite everything)i think he is motivated himself but cant really manage and play at the same time.
He used to be a really good defender and he probably could have been a good manager. But he was rather thrown in at the deep end after CK left.
And i partly agree about the set up being a bit [****!!****]. But new directors is one good sign. And a lot of people in the town and beyond do want a succesful team to support and that means if new directors come in and start to put things right. A lot of people ( myself included) will start to watch the team ( again).
