Just to let you know that I featured a story on the recent goings on in Saturday's Canvey Island matchday programme. It seems a lot of Canvey Supporters sympathise with the situation you are in.

BTW, this article is my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the Canvey Island FC.

Ironically enough the article was written by a Canvey fan. I have every sympathy with their club for what they've endured in the past few seasons- it is the fear of going down Canvey's path that should convince all of us that MyFC is a wise move, and maybe even a godsend.

Albeit in different circumstances, Canvey went bust because low attendances could not sustain football at that level. I think, without major investment, we will go bust on our low attendances and end up at Canvey's level.

We really need to recognise the bigger picture and appreciate this intervention. I've said it before and I'll say it again- I will happily swallow a small amount of pride to see our club thrive at this level and beyond.

It doesn't really matter if was a Canvey or Dover or Margate fan that wrote this really. There is a special bond between non league fans and this article highlights their concerns. I am delighted about the investment that will enable us to move forward. I sometimes think that even if Osama Bin Laden invested a couple of million some supporters would be blinded and say give him a chance he's not that bad its good for the club.

Good point about Canvey punching above the weight of their support. Canvey were also dependant on one man, who turned out to be very fickle.

Much easier for 1 man to up sticks & go than 20,000 people.

Not that I think everything is suddenly wonderful & we shoulod walk into this with our eyes firmly shut. However, I am grateful that this has come along just when I could see the inevitable decline coming with the end of this season. This may not turn out to be Nirvana, but it does offer us the hope of building, rather than having to unpick much of what we had done: full time, Fleet Leisure, new stadium plans ...
