Erith Town Res vs Margate Res

After a comfortable mid week result against Hythe Town, the reserves had to travel to Erith Town in the league.

With no Mark Weatherley due to illness, the team's experienced players Summers and Harker had to take the team and grind out a hard fought game eventually winning 5-4.

Gate started well passing the ball around quickly on a uneven pitch. They eventually took the lead with Taylor unleashing an equisite curler from 12 yards. With Margate dominating, Erith hit back with their winger sprinting down the line and cutting inside of Sutherton and executing an unstoppable drive that flew past Lamprell and nestled into the top corner of the goal.

With the Blues shocked, Erith took the lead just before half time, with the ball ricocheting off Eastwood's foot, the striker was in and powered the ball into the net via Lamprell getting a hand to it. This resulted in Lamprell fracturing his finger and half time was called.

Erith 2-1 Margate.

Second half started with Summers having a stern talk with the boys at half time and Vanhingsberg (coming on as a sub) immediately made an impact with some lightning runs down the left wing. Gate deservedly drew level with a fine finish from Taylor. With Hindley and Kechi dominating in the centre of midfield, Margate took the lead with Vanhingsberg firing the ball past the keeper.

Just like the first half, Erith stunned the away side again and drew level with some sloppy defending put the striker through one on one and cleverly cut the ball back across the goal for the winger to place the ball into an unguarded net.

10 minutes later, Stokes went on a surging run and linked up with Hoggart well to put Lewis through and restore Margate's lead. Although Margate were passing the ball around well, Erith still looked dangerous on the break creating a one handed save around the post by Lamprell.

Taylor then picked up his hat trick, by slotting the ball past the keeper and putting Margate in complete control. Lamprell then saved with his feet late on, until Erith produced a nervy finish with the stiker rounding the keeper and making the score 5-4.

A good battling result from Margate claiming a well deserved 3 points.

Margate: Lamprell, Stokes, Eastwood, Sutherton (Vanhingsberg), Summers, Payne, Kechi, Hindley, Hoggart (Brown), Taylor, Lewis
