Hopefully on the 18th of December we will know the outcome on the ground front - all fingers crossed.

 

However that date should also be used as a measure to see if we require a new manager.

 

Currently we have played 15 games and scraped together 9 points. By the 18th December we will have played 5 more games giving Wilkinson 20 chances to show if he can manage at this level.

 

The 5 games from now until the 18th December are:

 

Didcot away 3rd position

Abingdon home 9th position

Hillingdon away 20th position

Winchester home 16th position

Taunton away 13th position

 

All I am looking for is 5 points from these games for Wilkinson to prove he can keep us up.

 

I would expect those 5 points to come from:

 

Didcot - 0 points - have tonked us twice already

Abingdon - 1 point - a draw at home is realistic

Hillingdon - 1 point - a draw again

Winchester - 3 points - if we cant beat teams like this at home...

Taunton - 0 points - their home advantage and traveling.

 

However I would be happy with the points coming in any other permutation.

 

I belive this is a realistic expectation and Wilkinson has until the 18th December to prove he is up to the job.

Just to correct you these are the next 5 games:

Winchester (h)

 

Those 3 home games you've got to be looking for wins against Hillingdon and Winchester and a draw v Abingdon. Away to Didcot I think will be tough to get anything but away to Hillingdon with their non-existent support, with it being local and the fact they are down there with us too I'd be looking for a win there, a draw minimum.

OK then the target is 6 points from the next 6 games up to 18th December.

How things have changed!

 

Since Wilkinsons departure Betts and Barnard have pulled in nearly as many points in 4 games as Wilkinson in 17!

 

If we had contiuned with Wilkinsons form we would have been looking at a religation threatening 22 points at the end of the season.

 

However if B&B were to continue and keep up the form of the last 4 games, then we are looking at finishing with a far more respectable 46 points and mid table safety.

 

It will now be intresting to see if the management committee have recognised this or have other ideas?

I'm sure we already have look at the Windsor Forum. As as in the past 3 changes we promote from within.

Five of our last six managers have been promoted from within. The only external appointment we have made since the end of the 1997 season was Graham Roberts, as Brian McDermott, Steve Browne (I presume), Eddie Denton, Mark West and Darron Wilkinson were all playing for the club when given the job.
