For what its worth

Having spent the last 3 days trawling around MYFC.com, I can honestly say that they have been mis represented on our forum by a few idiots posting. They seem to have exactly the same problems of their own with WUM's but at 35 quid to join what do you expect. Many also have their own reservations about this venture. The location of Ebbsfleet seems to be a topic, so does the fact that we are non league and not a glamorous club and some complaining that they were not consulted. On the whole most seem just to be happy in the investment and being part of a project. The interest in merchandise is flattering especially from across the pond and down under. Like most forums they have their fair share of mugs but these are soon shot down and ignored. A good one tonight saying bad result today, Daish out. I still do not think they will get what they think they will get ie their vote will count. To me it is just a paid for football forum. There are good topics, bad topics, damn right stupid topics but with 20,000 members what do you expect. All I will say at this stage is, that if it goes through thanks for the money, merchandise sales and media exposure. It will be good for the team to get the support it deserves.

I don't quite understand why this should be. Are the naysayers upset cos they didn't buy a club in their neck of the woods? Then if so, wouldn't some of the southerners have moaned? And what about all the blokes in America, Australia and North Korea... they have no chance of a club being bought in their local area... though I hear Pyongyang Athletic came a close second to the Fleet in the vote.

The thing that strikes me the most is that how many seem fairly happy that we are the club that was chosen.

It is a good ploy by the people at MYFC as if the vote had gone on all clubs then where would we have come. By releasing the name of the club that will be voted on first, and remember they don't own us yet, they have managed to persuade the members to vote yes on us, a very good marketing ploy. I wonder where we would have finished in a poll of all nine potential clubs. The conditions on the club had to be right, they couldn't just pick anyone. The other 8 obviously didn't fit the bill so they really need to sell the one club that did.

Also another good point is that apparently a lot of Leeds fans signed up as they thought their club would be bought. So given the animosity that our fans have shown to the deal it is interesting to see how happy the Leeds fans were for thousands of people to be having a say on a club that means nothing to them. It is the same deal for whatever club was bought so Leeds are happy for it but we are not, they must really really really hate Bates.

Your right Harry. I think that is down to us being non league. Most of the subscribers probably support a league team so a non league club doesn't pose a threat to their own committment. No different from being in a horse owning syndicate really.

Hello! My name is Dave and I am a MyFC member from America (American football/soccer doesn't compare to that in England in my opinion, that's why I'm here). Please don't let the few idiots on the MyFC forums ruin your opinion of the whole. I listened to the match coverage on BBC/Kent and thought that the boys played a very good game today. Sacking Mr Daish is one opinion out of 19,999 others! It'll never happen!

I think that most of us are just happy to be involved and are hoping that the longstanding Fleet fans will help us become familiar with the club, its history and traditions and work together with us to make this project a sucess for all involved!

I also feel that a number of the MyFC members have unrealistic expectaions about this project. I don't think any of us know how this is going to work out, but I hope that we can all work together and try our best to suceed!

I would have thought it is in an ideal place. If MyFC could appeal to the people of central Europe then its just a train ride away to the station yards from the ground!!!

Edit: It is also 14 minutes from London too!

I think you are right here Harry.

There has been a huge amount of commentary here and on the MyFC forum about the pros and cons of a takeover of Ebbsfleet. Can you imagine trying to evaluate 8 different clubs, in different divisions, with different levels of debt, with a different cost price, with different issues relating to ground ownership, with different attitudes and interest from existing owners and with the stage of negotiations existing at eight different points in time.

It would be next to impossible to make a decision. MyFC hired a firm of consultants/solicitors/auditors/analysts who have experience in football related matters, including takeover negotiations with clubs to advise MyFC on the best option. Halifax presented itself as a possibility in early October and last week the same occurred with EUFC. No agreement was reached with Halifax, but an agreement was reached with EUFC. The membership of MyFC will vote to sanction the purchase and the shareholders of EUFC will vote to sanction the sale.
