3-4 another disaster - Board to blame?

Well done to Steve Ball for putting up with the foul and abusive language from some Maidstone United "supporters" whilst trying to report on the match over the internet.

I have some questions for fellow supporters:

Question 1.

Chris Kinnear's record during his final months at Margate doesn't appear to be any worse than Robin Trott's. Why hasn't Robin been given the boot?

Question 2.

Just a short while ago, Margate were beating the likes of Yeovil, Accrington and Doncaster Rovers. Much of the same Board is still in place whilst our club has suffered two relegations, has to play in half a ground and faces a very uncertain future. Should Board members now step aside?

Brilliant idea JCJ.

Board steps aside-who takes over ?

No-one and club collapses.

Maybe you might want to re-think that one.

I can't see that the Board have done much wrong-slow steady progress off pitch as far as i can see.I do agree that the Board needs to be stronger in 'managing the manager' though.

Who lets RT assemble a squad of 20 of which there are 3/4 defenders and 11 players who can play right or left wing/midfield.

The next thing will be 'we have no money to spend on defenders'-probably true-as RT has blown it all on forwards

No. The defence is to blame yet again I'm afraid although had we taken our chances we should still have won despite letting 4 in! Pinnock should have had a hat-trick but seems to be lacking confidence in front of goal these days. Why was

Side not even in the squad? Since Harte has "departed" we seem to be all over the place at the back and look vulnerable every time our opponents get a corner. If Trott does not or cannot strengthen the back line then we have no chance of challenging for a play off place.

Went to the game today.

Positive points - Some good football played at times. Free flowing and good passing from mid field.

Negative points - The defence is awfull. All guilty for all 4 goals. 4th goal Smithy at fault for not cutting out the cross.

3rd knowone cleared the ball, clearing there lines.

2nd Trotty failed to clear. 1st goal again a long ball not cleared.

A good team manager knows that the basics of a football team consists and starts with a strong back 4. You build from the back 4. I know and play with better defenders on a Sunday than 3 of his back 4.

I'm sorry. The first goal was route one and should have not been able to bounce. I constantly tell my defence (playing in goal) "no bounce" on a long ball on a Sunday morning. It was allowed to bounce and the defence got caught allowing their forward to lob SCS.

Oh look i'm moaning again and i'm sorry.

Well it just frustrates me so much. IMO the reserves defence is better than the first teams. Playing alot of football with Alan Heath and knowing many other quality defenders in Sunday football I know they would do a better job than the tosh I saw today.

Roadrunner you are right we have no defence. A good manager would hve started this season by getting one in place. We all saw it at the beginning of the season in the friendlies.

Why didn't Trotty!

I absolutely agree with you there Paul. Its fatal to do so at times yet our guys tend to allow the bounce much too often.I dont know about you but for me that isn't attacking the ball & thats what we lack for the most. We don't attack that ball as much as we should be doing.

Did you not see on the other thread EBP4 that RT is making his impact on the club by ensuring that all the sides from first team to U12's play in a similar fashion;and that today it seems to be working as against the bottom side -Erith-the reserves also successfully conceded 4 goals .

In true RT style on this occasion, they scored five and so won the game.

No doubt, they also played the game with 10 forwards and no defenders and it worked.

Marvellous

I think iits interesting how you can use statistics:

In fairness to RT ,he could justify his defence by saying 'its only the 14th worst in the league',so its not all doom and gloom.8 managers are responsible for a worse defensive record than me.

On the other hand, had we maybe conceded just three goals less by having a decent defence organised from the start of the season (thats August -not January)we would have won two more games, be third in the table and RT would have been a hero for some.

A fine line, but we create what we sow.

Southall did not do well last time out but would you think have more contacts, Hickman not a number two but a great coach for the set up. No 2 well who is around locally? it could be someone with local knoledge with youth and a reasonable quilification level.

How do you know it's not going to collapse anyway. Do you know something I don't?

Being that the board lodged a 6 figure sum to clear the CVA, not to mention the building works I have a feeling that the club is more secure that it has ever been

I agree with pagey. Unfortunately we cannot have everything.

I know Santa is coming and i hope that when he does he will leave the club that elusive pot of gold that we seem to think we have a right to. The CVA; the on going planning; the near completion of the 5-asides; the starting of the second phase of the development with the temporary car parks- all this takes time, money and energy.

Unfortunately, the team budget was cut, the reasons for this are pretty obvious. I know we would all love to be promoted this season, i know we should not settle for anything else but, can we realistically expect any more this . The board has taken on a new director in Mr Terence Painter, (Look at the changes in presentation since he came on board. From what i hear he is full of energy enthusiasm and good ideas to promote the club). If what i hear is also correct; he won't be the only addition either.

What we need is to get back to being, as our name suggests- supporters. Support the club in its time of need. What i have witnessed over the last few months is a support that is doing the opposite.

How can the club give Trotty or who ever more money, when the gate/revenue is falling. Surely it is basic economics.

How many of us put £75,000 of our own money in last season?

As you know i am not part of the M,I,S,A committee now but, i can feel for the guys who put in a lot of work into preparing the food (for 70, all wasted and, money that should be going to the club, going into the bin) for Friday night only to be let down once again by all except the 2 that turned up.

Leamington should be an example to us all in what can be achieved by pulling together.

Why give up when the end is in sight.

BB thats a very good statement and agree with alot of it and time is a good heeler so things will improve im sure but also time can take its toll on some and thats what has happened with alot of the surport by the looks of things . Its a shame and as you said we are almost at the end of it but some have lost total interest just like life and things that are normal to us . Sometimes its just to late to convince people to try again so the only way up now is to convince new people to turn up and be the new era of fan combined with the die-hard fans that will always be there for MFC.
