Maidenhead

Why should we? Because they're quite close to us, and they have an A grade stadium which would allow us to play in the Ryman Premier if promoted. Doesn't matter about local pride, we've lost enough of that in the last few seasons against Maidenhead anyway !

Maidenhead - neanderthals ? Come off it - theyve got one of the best disciplinary records around. I got aclear view of Gyroury's challenge - it was an accident. For god's sake does it matter anyway ? Of all your options Maidenhead would be the best. It's only six miles, dead easy by train, has an A grade, great pubs in town - AND talk of a new stadium really soon. I agree Matt, put aside petty squabbles and take it if offered. The only problem I see is that Maidenhead are not exactly struggling financially, therefore the lure of money, which may not get paid, lets face it, may not be enough.

As I said on the Maidenhead message board, Maidenhead isn't exactly a great option, and this is not because of partisan Slough Town opinion.

#1 Yes York Road has a Grade A listing. However the Magpies have enough problems getting 23 matches played once the winter sets in, 46 matches sounds a bt much.

#2 Somebody made the point that geographically its nearer than Uxbridge and Hayes. True, but the ground is a whole mile nearer than Uxbridge, and two miles nearer than Hayes. What a huge difference that makes.

actually they may be spending big time on the pitch - the new youth team is being funded by Maidenhead Boys who are rumoured to have loads of dough and are very close to United now. Also there's a growing rumour they're close to getting an absolute windfall to do with the new ground - rumoured to be six figures! Don't know details but it's a strong word.

I agree that a 6 figure sum wouldn't last 5 mins at Slough but we're not so flash with the old cashola!

I'm not fussed about a possible ground share. Would like to see Slough carry on going and if it's suitable for both parties then fair enough, although not for our old mate Roger Rebel's sake. We don't need the money and you certainly wouldn't see it as you doing US a favour.
