Oxford City vs Slough Town - Updates

Yep. Floodlights weren't very good. It was extremely hard to get photos for most of the second half.

I must agree with everyone so far, we played OK going forward for the first 27 minutes, then Oxford scored with their first attack, and the team went to pieces. For two of the goals, every one just stood still and watched the ball go in the net.

Apart from the first 27 minutes, we were dreadful.

We gave the ball away too easily, and yet again, when we play a team that run on to us at speed, the defence has no way to deal with it.

I must defend one player tho, and that is Woody. He is still getting over his lung problems, and he ran his heart out whilst he was on the pitch. Once he even raced acorss from left back, all the way to right back to get a tackle in, because a sticker was racing through on that side.

The fact is, he should not have to do that, he should only have to deal with his side of the pitch.

If this club does not do something, we will be losing our good players very soon.

What is it, that makes our players drift out of positions, revert to the long ball game which only gives the ball straight back to the oppo. We go a goal down and the players seem to forget the type of football that was giving them the upper hand before hand.

To their credit, some of the players did come over and apologise to us in the club house afterwards.

One thing that can not help is the fact that we do not have ALL the players for training. Due to wither other commitments, geography, or loan agreements.

It was a very long, quiet journey back home.

Not having ALL the players for training I find difficult to understand.

At this level I'd have thought it to be a given that if you play for the club you turn up for training. I don't know when the team trains but maybe it should be changed so they can all get there. If you don't train should you play or get paid?

re:floodlights

2 or 3 bulbs were out, must've gone at some point between Tuesdays game with Marlow and yesterday and the council obviously didn't know about it.
