Oxford City vs Slough Town - Updates

I was so disapointed I left at half time. It's the same old story, play well/win then back to our old selves and lose. Shame as we started this game quite brightly I thought. So what do we do? How many games do we keep giving the management to sort it out? Where is our next win coming from?

Yeah I know! It's just frustrating to go from last week's display to this one, and sadly in my head I thought this may happen... Attacking wise, although we still aren't scoring many I think we've improved in the area and have more options. It's the defence that really needs sorting now, look at the amount of goals we've let in! So what match do we all think we'll see the next points coming? The Hillingdon home match is a biggy now which we must not lose.

It was just 5 lucky goals scored by an average opposition, to go with the other 52 lucky goals scored against us by average opposition this season.

Have to agree with Glen, forward we are improving - yet still not scoring. However the defence is getting worse.

How does Daly keep his place in the team - or the question should be why does Wilkinson keep picking him?!

I think it is about time the management committee had a serious look at how the team is being managed, as with performances like todays and those of the season so far there is a high risk that we will get relegated and put in jepordy the new ground.

Positives Dave Barrett continued to shoot, yet injured his groin and looks like he may be out for a while, Woody did well coming forward.

hard luck lads, you started very brightly and scared us a bit.

Got to say , Slough supporters a credit to your club, even when things aren't looking the best you were there in large numbers, hope things turn around for you guys.

all the best.

The centre back pairing just isn't working and I think we should be playing 5-3-2. At least one new centre half and Smurf playing as one of three centre halfs with Woody and Robinson as wing backs. And a heavy investment in four leaf clovers and rabbits feet.

We can't say we haven't got funds to bring players in because we've brought in a few over the last few weeks but i think it's time a few were shipped out. As I said going forward we're looking more postive and threatening but it's the defence we really need to be looking at, I think Barnard is a good goalie but has a poor defence in front of him or one that doesn't work together. Who thinks we're going to get anything but another defeat at Didcot next week? How many more games do we give the management because Bracknell now have 2 games in hand over us and are just 3 points behind. Hillingdon have about 5 or 6 games in hand over us, so at the moment it's looking like it's us and Newport for the drop. As someone else said we just can't afford in more ways than one to be relegated this season so something has to be done by Christmas at the latest I think.

well its not good week end ... and things are not good..are an understatment - such a shame from the performances at Burnham and Uxbridge ...really thought we were turning it round...and now flash bag wallop we are in the fight of our lives again...

its so difficult ...for the club ..to get things right all of the time and changes I am sure are on everyones agenda...

IMO the denfence is and has to be sorted , unless we stop leaking in the goals we will have no chance...its not rocket science...

chris sliski personally

I was more disappointed after this game than I have been after any others.

How could we go 2-0 down against the run of play? We started off so brightly and Oxford must have thought they were going to be in for a difficult afternoon. For that first period I really thought Abby and new boy Chima were looking like they would play well together. It looked liked we could cause problems down the wings with Dave and Leon. It looked as if at last we were going to see some grit in the team thanks to Riddell; he even got Daly shouting.

We were down against Uxbridge and Didcot but we still fought on but yesterday we seemed to lose all confidence and interest. I thought too many players didn't have their hearts in it and injuries or not that included Leon Woodruffe and Dave Barratt. Good players and two of our best in the squad maybe but they should be working harder and pulling the team through when its getting tough. Abby was another one, so good against Uxbridge but missing against Oxford. Chris Robinson didn't come up to past performances either.

Worst for me though is our defence. Have to agree with everyone we are awful at the back. Wilko may have brought in some useful additions but either he's ignoring the defence or there's no one available.

Wilko needs to address two issues urgently our defence and our confidence. Both are failing badly.

And whilst I'm on the subject of a crap afternoon, is it me or did anyone else think that the floodlights were pitiful. Don't some sort of standards have to be met. Candlelight would have been better not that we can blame our woeful display on poor lighting!

For me Robinson's wasted at right back and his position is right wing. Riddell (understandably) did not look fully match fit to me. I'd push Robinson to RW, put Barratt in the centre with Riddell and put Harper right-back while bringing in a fast centre-back.
