Given the reported reasons for his leaving and cancellation of his contract, my guess is that MFC still hold his regisrtation. In the circumstances, that is certainly what I would do.

I seem to remember in a report or an interview that the club were retaining his registration, due to the circumstances of his wanting to leave. So would assume that is what they have done.
