I didn't know much about Histon, but the thread below about Dean Bradshaw got me interested so I've been reading up on them.

 

What a great few years they've enjoyed, and quite a meteoric rise up the pyramid. Basically a village of 8000 people, but averaging gates of over 1000.

 

And all that with the two Cambridge teams on their doorstep.

 

Just go's to show there's plenty of scope for success, if you can get it right on the pitch, even if you based in a village, like Swifts, or a town like us.

I've never forgiven them for the FA Trophy farce a few seasons back when they kept assuring us the pitch was fine and the game would definitely be played, and when we got up there we found the pitch ankle deep in water - and then they blamed us for not wanting to play on it.

 

We won 3-0 eventually. Dom Gentle scored 2, Joe Baker 1
