NEW MANAGER FOR ROYSTON

By Alasdair Gold

ROYSTON Town have a new manager after Buntingford's Paul Attfield took the step up to replace Phil Snowden who quit the side last week.

Attfield was merely an observer at Royston's 4-3 defeat at home to Kentish Town on Tuesday night, but will take the reins for the club's FA Vase game against Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Ipswich Wanderers.

His main task will be to get Royston up the league as they are currently rooted to the bottom of the Spartan League division one.

Buntingford player-coach Duncan Easley will act as caretaker manager of his side until he joins Attfield at Royston next month.

Yes we were reliably informed of this in the Royston boardroom on Tuesday night but I kept it under my hat until a formal announcement was made by the Garden Walk Club, Tony Galvin will be Paul Attfield's assistant so expect Royston to start climbing the league very soon, they certainly gave us a bigger test than Sport London e Benfica did last Saturday:

Yes their hearts are certainly in the right place at Garden Walk and they still treated us like Lords last Tuesday night under difficult circumstances with things falling apart around their ears.

How are Lords treated that's different from Kings?

Take it from me Lords are treated better than kings, I used to work for the Chief Whip in the House of Lords.

I'll be amazed if Royston lose again this season, apart from Saturday week that is when they visit the Copthall Stadium:

Powerhouse striker Craig Hammond has left Ridgeons League Premier Division club Mildenhall Town to become Molten Spartan South Midlands Leaguers Royston Town`s record signing.

The 20-year-old, who scored fifteen goals last season, joined Royston for an undisclosed four-figure fee - the first in the club's history - after a season-and-a-half at Mildenhall.

And he got off to a flying start, netting a hat trick on his Royston debut, as the Crows beat Division One rivals Ampthill Town 4-1 last Tuesday night.

Hammond said: "I had a good time at Mildenhall and I really enjoyed my time there".

"Trevor Munns brought me to the club and after he went I just felt it was the right time for me to leave".

"I wish Mildenhall al the best".

"Now I'm just looking forward to playing for Royston and, hopefully, I can repay the club's faith and score them the goals that moves them up the table."

Joint Mildenhall manager Tony Lyes said: "Craig lives out that way and it's like his home-town club".

"He's a good striker and will be missed but we're looking at two or three players and hope to find a replacement soon."

I don’t believe 1 man makes a team, but it does leave a big whole to fill, as our fall from the top of the table proves last year.

Go on, make my day - tell me you are Rhodes' boss!

Great point Septimus, well made and well argued.

Yes indeedy, at work Willo could easily gain access to Cec's computer when he pops out the room for a wee wee or an iced bun. Oh it is all so clear now, Willo was accussing me yesterday of being the post puzzle perpertrator when all along it was a cunning smokescreen to divert attention from his own guilt......!

Hang Willo!

Hang Willo!

Hang Willo!
