The one many thing G&N fans seem to hope the mooted MyFC takeover will acheive is the renaming of the club. There are two schools of thought here. Traditionalists favouring a return to one of the three previous names associated with the club, and the money-hungry thinking that having renamed at a sponsor's say so anyway, why not go the whole hog (eg Eurostar FC) if that brings in even more money? Here are ten possible names for the club. Which do YOU prefer (the verdict will be forwarded to MyFC forums)?

The club has already given us two major upheavals , with a name change being 50% of them . So as a newcomer , to get us REAL fans onside , you want to try to appease us with another ( or a reversionary ) name change . The publicity generated by this week's events have been garnered by a team called Ebbsfleet - you now want the name to disappear back to obscurity ? Do you only open your mouth to change feet ??? This club will ALWAYS be Gravesend & Northfleet IN TRUE FANS HEARTS - That is something NOBODY CAN TAKE AWAY ! KEEP YOUR POLLS ON YOUR FORUM - THEY ARE POINTLESS AND RASH TO POST ON HERE - IT'S STILL NOT YOUR CLUB TO INTERFERE WITH .

No need for this post really.

Trying to come to terms with what has happened this week and this does not really help matters. The name change at the end of last season was upheaval enough.

A slow approach is better for all concerned with the Fleet here.

See the post from yesterday about the discussions regarding badge, kit changes etc.

I think that it is downright rude and disrespectful to even suggest things such as this.

There are teams called Cadbury FC and Clinton Cards FC. Also Vauxhall Motors and Met Police, so you never know.......

Yup, they are all part-time, lower league clubs.... Are you trying to say something???

Don't know if that was "borrowed" from the Reporter or was "borrowed" by the Reporter. It was certainly the front page splash yesterday!

The Telegraph was using it the day it was announced i believe.

(Don't worry i don't normally read the Torygraph, it just came up on my google news feed!)

I think it'd be foolish to change it back at this point. What's done is done and we're looking like a load of headless chickens as it is without going back on the name change. What'll we do with all the tops, merchandise, signs etc that will all be out of date, AGAIN?

I'm sure that everyone at myfc has the best interests of the club at heart and wants to leave their mark in some way, but I'd rather you did that by upgrading the facilities or something rather than changing our name again.

In regard to the facilities, should we really get a large influx of extra supporters, we should really think about upgrading the facilities. The bar could really become a problem should hundreds more people want a drink. It's hard enough as it is to get in, grab a pint and drink it in 15 mins

In my opinion having seen the news exposure over the past few days and with the station finally opening to put Ebbsfleet on the map, EUFC looks a good name in print. Whilst I was originally upset at the name change (not so much why it was done but how), I now feel that EUFC is a much more brandable proposition over GNFC. Whilst the name GNFC will always have a special place in my heart, I would prefer to have a team to support over the next 40 years of my life than not.

From a marketing point of view, Ebbsfleet Utd wins hands down.

As others said, with all the recently publicity, it would be madness to change it now, even if back to Gravesend & Northfleet.

As much as this will upset the misty-eyed traditionalists,

everybody is supposed to be looking to the future, not backwards.
