The club will never change

This season we have seen our club, Gravesend And Northfleet, have a name change to Ebbsfleet United, which was very unpopular amongst some supporters, some of which vowed to stay away from Stonebridge Road, some have wandered back over time, some havn't. Now our club, Ebbsfleet United, has been taken over by some members of a website that want to live a dream in owning a football club. This has been too much for some and again, many have vowed to stay away. ENOUGH! At the end of the day we support our local team and most of us have done for many years and whatever happens at the club we shouldn't stop supporting, we are supporters, not board members, so lets do our job by getting behind the team and let the board do whatever they are payed to do, I am not defending them but all the arguments against name change etc have been based on moral reasons and its the same as this myclubfc.com takeover. But at the end of the day WE ARE STILL THE FLEET, WE STILL PLAY AT STONEBRIDGE ROAD, WE ARE STILL BASED IN OUR LOCAL TOWN (unlike MK Dons), and after all the fuss fades, we will probably go back to attendances of about 800, which most Fleet fans prefer bacause it seems to make the club more personal and accessable than it would be if we became a bigger club. But if we do evolve as a club and end up in the football league with larger attendances just remember one thing,we were there from the start and we can still be proud to be Fleet supporters, so dont turn your backs on our club, instead be a part of of the evolution of Gravesend And Northfleet football club.

I'm afraid the very nature of life and everything in general is 'evolve or die' - for that very reason I now back the scheme, even if it turns out horribly wrong. And for all the reasons you've said as well, Wellread. Come on fellas - we're still the 'fleet; it's OUR club, no matter who owns it!
