Can I ask a question

My name is Ian an I am an MyFC subscriber (it sounds like being at an AA meeting)

My question to EUFC fans is:

If MyFC was just a company owned by a rich American (they don't know much about football and I know that EUFC fans think the same about MyFC!!) and this company promised to give EUFC £500,000 this year and a similar (if possibly smaller) amount over the next few years what would most of the current and real EUFC fans think?

Now just a little bit about me and what I think.

(I know that I may get some s**t for this post but I can take it!)

I am from Nottingham and now live in Scotland.

I work for HM forces, and am currently working in overseas so I am used to doing a lot of sh**ty jobs and usually not being appreciated.

I have supported Forest since I was a boy (many, many years ago)and have been thru the glory years and the current decline and am still a Forest fan. I bought shares in the club when it went public because it is my club and I thought I could help (I also hoped to make some money but that absolutely didn't happen).

Since the company went public the share price collapsed, we have gone down the leagues and only due to the being bailed out by one man have we stayed in business. A lot of fans dont like Mr Dougherty but he keeps the club afloat and maybe we are on the way back up.

I subscribed to MyFC at first because I liked the idea of being part of a club. I wasn't one of the muppets who thought we could buy a club in Div 1 or 2 (or Leeds/Forest who were always near the top of the wish list). I thought maybe we could help a club with ambition who had no chance or getting the sugar daddy drawn into making money out of the Premier League.

I am not sure exactly how the MyFC concept will work.

I expect that a reasonable percentage of the people who have paid up now will not renew once the initial excitement wears off and a new fad appears.

However, having spent a lot of time reading the forums on MyFC and EUFC I have seen the same passion for football running through it. Sure there are plenty of di*kh*ads on the MyFC site with totally unrealistic ideas and who are gobbing off about what is going to happen. 99% of these ideas are just forum chat. I am also sure that the EUFC fans (and MyFC members) aren't all Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Albert Einstein. We all have opinions about football and that is what we have in common.

I know I will try to make a few games (I am going to try to make a couple of games in Dec or Jan and maybe I can get some advice about the best way to get from Stansted airport to the ground and where to have a pint ot two!)and put my money thru the turnstile and over the bar and I know that a majority of MyFC fans will do what they can.

I have seen plenty of MyFC forums with fans making plans to get to the nearest match to them as we cant all get to home games (the Scottish contingent will try to get to games at places like York). I think that groups of fans from such rivalries as Celtic/Rangers and Hibs/Hearts planning to travel to watch their new team together should help to show EUFC fans that we dont want to take over. We just want to be part of something which might just help EUFC to the next level.

It looks like EUFC will be getting the money that 20,000+ football fans have put together (next year it may be less - but I think the ones left next yaer will be real football fans not fantasy football players). I hope that this money can do some good for the club. I know that many of the real EUFC fans dont like the idea of being taken over (and it does seem like a take over not an agreement) but maybe given a bit of time you might come to realise the majority of MyFC members want to be part of the growth of a club not just some jumped up overlord.

This is of course all my opinion and probably a load of boll*cks!

I dont do posting on forums very often and you can probably see why now!!

If you have managed to read all this drivel thanks.

I hope to see some of you at a match before Xmas.

Ian

Ian, Hi.

Firstly we would have been delighted with that amount of investment from any organisation. The take over isn't the problem in my opinion. It is that we have been inudated on this forum by indviduals acting as they are the new owners and patronising us. Admittedly there have a few good eggs. What is hard for me personally to understand is that on Tuesday nobody new jack [****!!****] about Ebbsfleet but on Wednesday they were proclaiming their undevided love for the club. As a true fan of a club like yourself how can you overnight become a fan/supporter. That is just my own personal feelings. You would be made more than welcome at Stonebridge Road. I hope you enjoy your first visit.

Fantastic post. Exactly the attitude i think the majority of MyFC will have. I agree that the majority of dickheads will have gone after the first year.. but for now, the real fans should just grit thier teeth and accept the money smile All work together in making this club great.. i can clearly see there is a passionate following of locals, die hards.. and with the new people who want to belong.. together, the club can be made great smile
