Voting Strategies

Members of MyFC are allowed to vote on lots of things on how 'their' club is run, from team selection to transfers and including God knows what else - these details will be made-up added in time.

The MyFC members who have posted here have re-assured everyone that because of the size of the voting pool (approx 20,000) that stupid decisions can't ever happen as the good votes will outnumber the stupid votes - makes sense when you think about it..

However, back in August (the most recent result list), the great and the good of MyFC were still voting on which team they should rule over..

* 1 Leeds United

* 2 Nottingham Forest

* 3 Cambridge United

* 4 Accrington Stanley

* 5 Brighton

* 6 Barnet

* 7 QPR

* 8 Brentford

* 9 York City

* 10 Torquay United

* 11 Arsenal

* 12 Oxford United

* 13 Woking

* 14 Dagenham & Redbridge

* 15 Notts County

* 16 Manchester United

* 17 Milton Keynes Dons

* 18 Liverpool

* 19 Wycombe Wanderers

* 20 Bradford City

* 21 Halifax Town

* 22 Bournemouth

* 23 Wrexham

* 24 Leyton Orient

* 25 Tranmere Rovers

* 26 Aldershot Town

* 27 Crawley Town

* 28 Darlington

* 29 Exeter City

* 30 Millwall

* 31 Bury

* 32 Gillingham

* 33 Chester

* 34 Sheffield Wednesday

* 35 Swindon Town

* 36 Southampton

* 37 Mansfield Town

* 38 Chelsea

* 39 Bristol Rovers

* 40 Macclesfield Town

Look at the top 10 - the most popular, the ones with the most votes, the ones that should be the most sensible, separating the good from stupid..... Hmmmm

To be honest Pat - this is a bit old hat. A lot of people voted for an off the wall choice when registering initially - and most didn''t bother changing afterwards. Along with that only a couple of dozen votes seperated Cambridge and the club in 60th place. Incidentially, Cambridge came in third because Lee Power was interviewed shortly after the launch and made some positive noises initially.

On the forums the most popular choices were York, Bath City, Accrington Stanley, Halifax and Poole Town (because of the big population) and possibly a couple of others that don't come to mind at the moment.

Dom... Only 'old hat' to you - this story is less than 4 days old for Fleet fans!

I remeber reading it somewhere on the MyFC forum - think it was well on top of the list.

So if the "members" didn't care, and Ebbsfleet wasn't on that list.............Who decided on Ebbsfleet? Mr. Brooks and his Inner circle?

'Didn't mind' is a little different than 'didn't care'

As for Ebbsfleet - no.47 or 48 I believe - but if you take out all the clubs from the top three and a half divisions (who were never an option) - it was in the top twenty. Now nine clubs approached MyFC and MyFC approached another few as well. So they basically spoke to most clubs (that were a viable option) that were in the 'top twenty'. Some were ruled out because of the level of debt, some because the owners wouldn't sell or were looking for way too much money, some because they were already run by a ST (e.g. Exeter and Notts County). Detailed discussions were held with seven (including Halifax Town - who were reasonably close to a deal last month) and Ebbsfleet became the choice from both MyFC's and the club director's perspective.

Buying a club is a difficult task. The Halifax takeover has been rumbling on for over a year. I am actually surprised that things have progressed so quickly. We will probably never know the other clubs involved because of confidentiality agreements (except for Halifax) but you could surmise that MyFC had contact with most of the Clubs from the three Conference divisions that were on the above list and a couple or three from League 2.

You have a lot of businees acumen for a mere Postman! A bit like rsheard has as much for a mere teacher/writer.

The wool is clearly away from my eyes!

You spin doctors are working in shifts, just like Jehovas Witnesses banging on doors. You say you are mere members then trot out all the correct answers, from your Hymn sheet and hoodwink a few more mugs!

Hours after the takeover was announced, Ebbsfleet was still No 10 on the takeover list, and didn't go to the top, until several hours after that!

Being Irish you will know this cry!

NO SURRENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its true Dom, it would be easier if you admitted to your official MyFc PR role. I think you are getting more negativity when you make out your just a mere "member"

Another gem picked up which MyFC can deny I'm sure:

"There may be cash bonuses paid to members of the site for promotion etc., but those cash bonuses would be paid to members of the website direct by the football club - for taking part in the running of the club, and contributing to its success - not for belonging to a supporters trust. "

Is this still in the plans then?

The only official spokeperson for MyFC is Will Brooks. I am a moderator on the MyFC forum (have done very little over the past couple of days). But what you get here is me and only me, my opinions no one else's - and a little about what I know about MyFC. I get plenty of abuse on MyFC some even from other moderators. I talk alot (teacher again) and am veeerrry long-winded.

As for business acumen - exact opposite - diehard socialist and trade unionist all my life.

I noticed that on the Exeter forum Dom, most people against, but resistance was futile. If you can't convince them, then send them to sleep instead.

Go to the myfootballclub website and click on the "580 diggs" under the EA Sports Logo. In there you will find a post from charliecharles who is, and I quote him, "I am one of the people involved, and as a partner in a major City law firm in London..."

That quote about the club paying money to the web employees, that is My Football Club Limited, is made by him.

I see they are still using the word "Trust", too.

You own an equal share in a newly purchased Club.

Very misleading at best!

When 50,000 are registered your 35 pounds are requested.

MyFC members, before you paid your money did any of you ask for, or were you shown proof, that 50,000 had registered?

How many of you actually voted for Ebbsfleet?

Answering these questions for me would go a long way to putting my mind at ease

You have been on this forum telling the Ebbsfleet supporters how good you are going to be for the Club, answering these questions truthfully, might make more Ebbsfleet fans understand your motives!
