So that's what that flashing thing was at the top of the page.

anyway - I wondered how long it would take someone to spot that. A MyFC member actually noticed it on Tuesday. In fact I registered on quite a few Conference forums over the past three or four weeks. Have been engaged in discussions on a few of them (Exeter, Woking and Halifax for example). This forum I just happened to come across on Monday. And it was actually the Conference messageboard thingy I was after.

Of course you wanted to hear that I am Will Brooks or a close associate - have know about Ebbsfleet for months and have intimate details of everything that has been going on. Unfortunately not the case. Bad-timing (or good-timing depending on how you look at it).

true - although I was never a GAA man. My local soccer team always played second fiddle to the GAA.

But they did win a couple of All-Irelands about ten years ago. I know the then manager well. I was his postman and he had a fart of an annoying dog.

I think I know at least one of them!
For his first hundred or so posts, it was Mr Brooks this, Mr Brooks that. Then all of a sudden it was Willie this, and Willie that...........Probably the only transparency I have seen on here from MyClub!

Harry if you asked a Kerryman where was the local night club he would look at you cross-eyed - saying that - they are all cross-eyed down there. There is a reason for Kerryman jokes! No other county is so privilaged.

A question Dom, I don't know whether it has been asked elsewhere?

What percentage of MyFc members are based overseas?

See I can see the appeal to overseas fans, it gives them a vested interest in the British game. Certainly the overseas punters I've heard from seem more excited about this than the UK one's, maybe why rsheard and yourself are so keen on this scheme

What I fail to understand are the British punters, of which virtually all would have a local club to support. I know the appeal is supposed to be involvement in team selection etc, but this is fairly superficial

If anything MyFc has shown how it is possible to market football to people with jaded football minds to give them something interesting. It is a sad indictment on the 100's of clubs up and down the land who have failed to get these people involved in their own clubs.

Can't find it - the search facility on MyFC is still quite poor.
From memory - I think the figure was around 10%-12%. 400 each in Ireland, USA and Australia I think and then a scattering in other countries - the Scandanavians had quite a few. Mostly English speaking countries - although stuff has started to be translated into several languages (Spanish and Portugese come to mind). I know there is a group of Australians planning a trip for the new year - hoping to take in three or four games.

Read somewhere that there were 4,000-5,000 (I think) in London. Good numbers in some other large cities. On the members section of the MyFC forum (regional discussions) the biggest threads are on the Hampshire, Leicestershire, Manchester, Yorkshire, West Midlands, Essex and Cornwall & Devon posts - but I don't know if this is a reflection of actual members in the regions.

Football fans in Ireland have always followed English football. More people travel to Glasgow and Manchester each week than go to any League of Ireland game. My town has a population of 10,000 and the Celtic supporters club has 1,000 members (mostly from Northern Ireland - settlede here during trouble in the North in the 1970's) 100 go to practically every home game in Glasgow.

Incidentally, there are four 'soccer' clubs in Shannon - all with good membership - and they spend most of their time using the GAA facilities (players don't get paid so they have very good facilities)

I agree - incidentally I have always been against the team selection thing - but democracy rules.

I think you are spot on here. I would argue that this has to do with the money in football now. The more money the more it has moved away from the fans. I started listening to football comentary on BBC longwave when I was about 8 or 9. 1971 FA Cup Final was the first game I saw live (Charlie George was brilliant and I can still name the two teams). But, under present circumstances, you will never again see Derby or Ipswich or Forest or Burnley win the League. You'll never see Oxford or QPR win the League Cup (with the motor men's money QPR might have a chance but I doubt it) etc. The money from Sky has made a bad situation substantially worse and all the time the sport has been moving further and further from the fans.

Okay rant over!
