The Peoples Club

Just to get back to the motivation for my original post, which is the assertion by Clowntown that these people (at The Peoples Club) are disenchanted MyFC members. Which, if true, would be short-termism in the extreme and which I see as one of the most worrying aspects of the proposed deal.

Much of the site is just cut and pasted from MyFC and they are asking for the money (between £39 and £79) up front! MyFC only asked for money when they hit 50,000 members.

Thepeoplesclub looks and smells like that the ripoff some people on here consider MyFC to be. Here's a reassuring quote from the guy behind thepeoplesclub:

"Look at what Pete Winkelman is achieving at Milton Keynes."

*sigh*

I went through the sign up process on the PeoplesClub and it is obviously a rip-off from MyFc. I did post here last night some of the stuff they were offering, but it looks like it was deleted - (maybe it wasn't believed).

You have to pay your money up front and there is no indication of how many have signed up. They actually have three types of membership, the best one being Platinum at £79.

I selected Ebbsfleet as the team I want to buy and was greeted with the message "Ebbsfleet has been selected by many of our members", guess I would get the same message whoever I selected.

It seems like the site inventors have tried to come up with as many bullet points as possible to get as many mugs signed up. For the top of the range £79 membership you are actually offered:

Entered into a competition to have the ground/stand named after you

Entered into a competition so you can come on as a substitute in a game

Be able to attend a board meeting

No, I am not making this up.

I can see PeoplesClub are trying to make money off the success of MyFc, but unlike MyFc there is no transparency, you have to pay your money up front. With MyFc there was a long period where you could join and see what's it aims were and converse with others. Whether you like it or not MyFc are now offering something tangible whereas I don't think PeoplesClub will ever see the light of day and there is no timescale of when a club will be acquired.

I can actually see these copy sites being damaging to MyFc as supporters will think they are all alike. MyFc seems quite genuine in what it is trying to achieve, but these other sites seem to have been established for one reason, and that is to find another way to fleece football fans/mugs.
