Reading Town v Colliers Wood United

Recommended Posts

I didn't go JR but secretary and team manager said one Reading player was "a nutter" and "a disgrace".

Apparently, our Polish player (Bart Gogola) is pretty good!

Goalfest at Meadowbank then?

You could say that Chris.

You could also call it a very eventful game, but more of that later, POSSIBLY !

We have a very yound squad in both 1st team and reserves. (With the odd exception). This is our first season in the Suburban League and is proving to be a great learning curve.

Attacking wise, we are as good as any team in the CCL as we have good pace, good passers and good finishers. Because we are a progressive sort of team, we struggle a little at the back, particularly re breakaways. We have kept only 2 clean sheets all season (Sandhurst Town and Civil Service in London Cup) and, if we can address this soon, we should get a top six finish. We are as entertaining as any side in the CCL and I am pleased when we come up against like minded teams. Tony and his committee work their socks off to get it right at Wibbandune (like most CCL club committees to be fair) and my one disappointment is that there aren't that many people watching CCL matches. In fact, only 10 of the 22 clubs have "upped" their average attendance so far this season. http://www.tonykempster.co.uk/cocoatt.htm

I would hope that the end of season re-shuffle of leagues and improved publicity from the league may help with this!

One suggestion is to do what the Sussex League did and that is to have a CCL "match of the day" every Friday evening using the game to publicise the league and attract sponsors. I know Tony at CWUFC is considering moving some matches to Friday evenings this season where possible. There is so much competition for football nowadays that we, as clubs, need to find some innovations to attract supporters. Of course, as I have said before, there are far too many "senior" clubs anyway! feedback

Agreed. It is the main problem with the ground.

I know the club are looking to address this problem but we are well hemmed in.

It might be possible to purchase enough land behind the clubhouse for either, a parking area, or an access road beyond the clubhouse and the land to the right (as you look onto the pitch) could be cleared for more parking spaces.

However, there are environmental issues with trees etc.

There is some parking on the other side of the A3 and access to the ground is via the footbridge.
