Another proposition for MyFC members to chew over?

Just throwing this one into the hat, but wonder would it appease some supporters if as part of your 'constitution' (for want of a better word), in the same way you make assurances about not taking money out of the club and selling it to the Trust or similar if things ever went awry, how about you also agree, or at least discuss the possibility that:

1. The badge is part of the club's history. It doesn't need changing.

2. The home colours are part of the club's history. They won't be changed.

3. Any move or planning for a new ground would be on the proviso that it stays in the borough of Gravesham (I realise all planning up until now has been with this in mind, but we'd hate to see the goalposts moved on it now).

4. The name would never change unless there was some move back to GNFC.

I know most of you would probably agree to this anyway, but a more formal acceptance of these core issues might be a good olive branch.

I'm not sure it's in the terms anywhere, but all of those things have long been accepted on the MyFC forums, certainly. Retaining the club's identity is a huge part of it. The one thing that I think people would vote in favour of changing would be putting the name back if it was felt that a) it was commercially possible after the Eurostar deal and B) existing fans wanted that.

I think if current fans need that kind of commitment it would be possible, because being a MyFC member 99.99% agree with what you've said. I do appreciate you may be worried as there's always a few nuts around who stir up trouble...

It's important to remember that when the site was started we were all like minded football fans. No matter what team we were going to buy, the overwhelming factor in wanting whatever team we bought was to SUCCEED, not to DOMINATE or CONTROL.

A lot of issues on this site are covered in the MyFC forums. You don't need to pay to read them either, so get on board!

I doubt you will find a single member of MyFC that would oppose any of the four points you mention above (with the possible exception of that clown who was on here a couple of days ago).

And I will make a proposal that a formal vote should be held on the MyFC forum on each of the four points you make.

Thank you doheochai (wish you had an easier name to copy!)... I still have reservations on the team-selection and playing side of things, but as I said above, measures like this can show that MyFC is as good as its word on the democratic process I guess.

I saw a few threads about badge changes and all manner of other wacko ideas when I had a look before and probably 'saw redder' than I would have with a cooler head, and with any luck some of the more far-out ideas are minority views!

Dom or Dominic will do fine - D O hEochai is my name in Irish (saves me having to add a load of numbers after my initials when registering for stuff.

You are not the only one - Daish seems willing to give it a go and if it doesn't work I be the first one to suggest a change.

Absolutely - anything to help

You can consdier that they are in a very small minority. Most MyFC members accept the need for continuity and stability and proving their credentials to existing MyFc fans.

Back to the topic of the thread.

Stu - I have discussed this issue with the other members of the Forum Team and the Web Team.

Everyone agreed that the points raised by you are valid and should be addressed in a formal manner.

Unfortunately it appears that the mechanisms are not in place for a formal vote on the MyFC website yet.

It was also felt by some people that it would be inappropriate for MyFC - even if the mechanisms were in place -to have a formal vote on an issue directly related to a football club that is still completely independent of MyFC. It was felt that this could be construed as interference in a club that, at this point, has no formal connection with MyFC. Thinking about it in this manner, I have to say I tend to agree.

What I have done is posted your comments on the MyFC forum (I hope this is okay -if not let me know and I will delete them) and asked members to comment. Unfortunately this is as close as we can get to a formal decision at the moment. I hope this is not a disappointment to you.

Another MyFc member here, who would like to show agreement with the concepts you have raised Stu, totally agree with them.

I too will join with Dom & Glover on the MyFc boards in supporting these views.

The club is steeped in history and clearly has a passionate fan base who really do care, I think if this deal goes through then MyFc are very lucky indeed.

Stu -

There is so much activity on the MyFC forums at the moment that it is practically impossible to keep a thread in the top thirty. Unless I keep bumping it every 10 minutes it disappears off the list.

As a result only about 40 people have posted - all with the exception of one are 100% behind your four points. The one guy wanted to sell the badge, colours, name etc to Nike for as much money as possible - there is always one.

Interestingly a couple of people suggested putting a small MyFC badge on the club jersey - but were rounded on by the rest of those posting who insisted there should be no MyFC emblem on the team jersey.

To be honest, I don't imagine that would cause a great furore... we have sponsors' logos on shirts for a lot less cash, so I couldn't really see a big argument against that.

Good to know the popular feeling anyway... I have to admit, since the hysteria has ebbed (no pun intended!) away and a few of the idiots have gone home, the flood of weirdo postings that ruffled me yesterday seem less of a concern in the cold light of day.

I'm still chortling over the bloke who wanted to open a deprived kids' centre though! Getting out of the BSP will be a job in itself without going all Mother Teresa on us!
