Charlton are 'officially' a Kent side as they register under the Kent FA!

Right, I'll come in here. There are a number of things I can't quite understand, but I appreciate the that different people view the game and fans in a different way to me. There is not a Premiership or Championship club in England that doesn't take fans from the catchment area of non-League clubs from Step 1 down as far as you wish to go. If it were me, and it isn't, I would be thinking that my presence at, say, a club at Step 5 or 6 would be far more appreciated than putting £35 into a professional club to have a 1/20000th of 51% (you do the maths) 'say' in the club's running. I can almost guarantee that you would be made welcome (I know from my limited groundhopping that this is the case).

I don't know the extent of Ebbsfleet's debt, but I bet Northwich and Halifax would have been far more appreciative of the move (although Halifax have now paid their tax bill apparently). Why are Ebbsfleet in debt? Well, without trying to antagonise Fleet fans, we are still part time on double your crowds (you can even factor in our FA Cup jackpot if you like). What MyFC are doing are providing a source of funding that is in effect from a 'collective sugar daddy'. I can't see that much difference between that and what Griggs did at Rushden, or what Abramovic has done at Chelsea.

I am not against the idea of a collective of fans owning a club, but only if it is made up by fans of that club. Maybe MyFC will open the floodgates to help fans own their own clubs, but in my view this particular model is flawed.
