The fundamental flaw with MyFC

It simply doesn't allow for long term thinking. 20,000 or however many people voting on formations and teams can't be innovative. They will always produce mainstream mediocre results. Always.

Ebbsfleet can never hope to compete in the way an Rednap or a Wenger might invisage. Wenger demands a particular style of football on the floor, he will back untested youth, he goes against majority thinking and he is a success. Harry equally has his own style, he demands athleticism and power and a certain amount of skill. He has developed his own unique formula for success.

How can MyFC ever embrace individualism and genius? By definition it must always be average, a mass vote and uncreative. It can never take the long term view. It must always focus on the next match, it will always vote most popular. To take Arsenal as an example a young Cesc Fabregas would undoubtably be ignored in favour of the popularity of a Viera. MyFC would never have voted to sell a player as popular as Henry.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced football management has to be a dictatorship and can never be a democracy.

I think Daish can (if he's crafty, and I think he is) largely carry on with 'business as usual' while paying lip service to the demands and 'hoops' that MyFC want him to jump through - every decision MyFC will make concerning the team will be based on reports compiled by Daish - he can word them in a way to influence the majority to his way of thinking. I may be naive (with rose tinted glasses) but I really cant see much changing in the day to day running of the team.

If you can't influence anything, what's the point of it all then?

well daish probably needs the marketing skills the owners of the myfc website have to do that!

have people not seen yet how the owners of MyFC have advertised it? Its on just about every news channel across the world. They have got people tp pay £35 for [****!!****] alll!!

what does your £35 entitle you to? a vote, great! what happens if your vote is against the "majority" well you lose, because you vote against something but the majority vote for it. You lose cos your minority!!!!!

To be fair its never gonan really happen anyway. MyFC have to negotiate a lot still. They have a deal " IN PRINCIPLE" sign the papers its done, fair doos. No matter how much anyone wants to [****!!****] us loyals over. I reckon theres still sooo much scope for this to go tits up. then i will laugh at these myFC members........

If that's what you honestly believe will occur (and i personally feel that Daish will still have a significant amount of control) then in essence your club (I won't call it mine out of respect) is receiving a nice cash injection from 20,000 mostly well-meaning individuals who just want a bit more of an attachment to a club than what we currently get.

I don't think the negatives will be close to outweighing the positives. But i also don't expect the true Fleet fans to trust us until we've earned it. And that is just fine.

I hope that when i get over to the UK for next season that i can come along to watch a bit of decent grass-roots football at a ground not entirely unlike the one i watch my local team play at down here in Aus. Maybe i'll even get to have a pint or 5 with some long-time fleet fans to see how they feel the whole thing is going.

For me personally, its partly the ILLUSION of control - Im not daft enough to think that my one vote will change anything but the whole concept is being sold on having some input.
There's also the altruism thing, putting something into a grass roots club with a long history and fierce (but shrinking) local support - which is probably what appealed to me most when I first heard of the whole idea.
There's also the whole backlash against a single wealthy owner forcing a club to put all its eggs into one basket financially and going tits up if anything happens to that individual (Telford, anyone?)

Given the control thing is an illusuion, you can get the whole altruism thing by joining a supporters trust of a local Yorkshire club. I would point you in the direction of the Viking supporters trust at Donny Rovers but we are enjoying good times. You'd get more of a kick out of helping a really down and out desperate club like Rotherscum United, why not join RUST?
