MYFC IS NOT A TRUST

Recommended Posts

MyFC is not a trust - it is a provident society. I don't and never have described MyFC as a trust and I am not aware of any members of MyFC who have (there maybe a few who haven't read the T&C's but they are few and far between).

And yes EUFC has a supporters trust - MyFC is not trying to replace it but wants to work in conjunction with it. Indeed MyFC is obliged to promote the existing ST under its own rules (Board representation etc.)

There lies the problem in repeating what you've heard. What other information has been passed on to here, in good faith of course, that is apparently incorrect.

If it's not a trust, does that negate what you said earlier?

No "one man" will ever have control of MyFC because the website operators are not the owners of the charitable trust. Each voting member has a single vote.

Found the source of my term confusion. This is a quotation from the How it Works page on MyFC:

"Members will own the club through their MyFootballClub Trust, and together they will attempt to guide their football club to success."

perhaps it's a name issue.

But it doesn't change the issue regarding ownership and control of the club. Will Brooks' company, the website operator, won't own the club. The "MyFootballClub Trust" will.

Disagree - MyFC wants football rooted firmly in the community and the active involvement of the ST. The fact that the membership is worlwide does not negate this fact. The entire basis of MyFC is putting football back where it belongs (in the community) rather than under the control of people with money, who run it for money, don't mind cranking up huge debts and then walking away and leaving the whole place in the sh*t.

What is the name of Will Brooks Company? Do they also own this MyBUFC site? Because it certainly looks like both sites were created and written by the same people

The website operator, Will's company, is MyFootballClub Ltd. They are not associated with MyBUFC in any way, as far as I know. MyBUFC is a copycat site.

I don't think so. I think this is an old page that MyFC needs to correct asap. According to the front page of the MyFC website,

"MyFootballClub Society Ltd is registered with the Financial Services Authority, registration number 30275R"

I suspect now that MyFootballClub Trust was a proposed name that was changed when the actual legal status of the group was selected. I'm sending the MyFC staff an email for clarification now.

No - the registered name is MyFootball Club Society Limited and it is a provident society.

MyFootballClub Limited. The company is the operator of the MyFC website.

Absolutely nothing to do with it - a number of new sites have been set up along the same lines as MyFC - none of them are in any way connected with MyFC. A small number (couple of dozen) of MyFC members also joined MyBUFC.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree there. :o)

Clubs not owned by the community generally only pay lipservice to the community, in my experience. This takeover is like Abramovich coming in to "play football". If the people behind the takeover really cared about the community, they'd hand ownership over to the trust 100%.

I am not sure, but I think it is a case that it creates a demarcation between a website, which is there for the benefit of MYFC members only, and the IPS that proposes buying a 51% share of the club.

If there is a problem that causes the website to go down, the club is unaffected.

It also means that the owners of the website, who run it separately from the IPS, can raise funds in whichever way they wish without imperilling the football club.
