Your last sentence makes me laugh - for arguments sake let us say that Fleet's wage budget (gross) is £9k a week. If you wanted to put all the staff on 1-year contracts, that means you would have to have £468k in the bank at the start of the season. MyFC members need to start asking your puppet master exactly how much money will be left in the bank after MyFC Society Ltd has bought 51% of Ebbsfleet's shares from the directors. Oh, and don't forget the commitment to purchase the remaining 49% - presumably that money is already ringfenced so that there is absolutely zero chance of you getting into debt?


A very obvious and well put point Dewsbury SAFC, and one which has been completely ignored by the MyFC uber-owners.
They insist on trotting out the usual "ring-fenced funds", "funds held in reserve", "cannot run up debts" etc lines without realising they do not (yet, admittedly) have the funds to do any of this. All they do have is 20,000 members who have paid £35 (less admin costs) for THIS YEAR only. This number will be diluted next year by the exodus of those who expected to have a greater say in club affairs, who wanted a 'Northern' based club, or those who expected to be part of Leeds/Forest! Only if Fleet do well in the league and/or FA Cup(!!) will there be a significant increase in members and therefore the possibility of providing enough funds to purchase players and have funding for their contracts.

I think you've also got to throw in the pot the demand from Myfc for success on the pitch. So how much will be spunked on new players in January, other conference side are already thinking Ebbsfleet are the new Chelsea and will push up prices.

 

I know Myfc board will say we will be prudent, but they also need to keep the MyFc members happy so they keep investing, whereas Fleet fans are accustomed to mid-table mediocrity.

 

Expectation and reality could be poles apart.

Excellent idea! I have just thought of a new website MyCar.com. You all pay me 30 quid and get a vote on what car I buy. You then get to choose insurance company, petrol stations I visit to fill it up and I report back how it drives and review the petrol stations and insurance companies. Every three years I give the car to charity and you, er, I buy another one. Rinse and repeat.
