Are MyFC fans worried too?

Thinking more about this this morning two things would be concerning me if I was a MyFC member.

1, Why did none of you know about the Ebbsfleet deal before it was announced? It would seem a major detail and definitley one I would liked to have voted on if I were a member, before it came this far and money was spent on due dilligence etc. Ebbsfleet were not even in the list of clubs members preferred. It seems that you don't have full control of this venture and the webowners have made the only major decision you have come across so far without you. If they do put it to a vote after the due dilligence they have already spent thousands.

2, The only example of MyFC voting we have seen so far was the prefered club vote which had Leeds and Forest at the top. Maybe Leeds could have been brought when they were in trouble but Forest? We would be about 30 million out of your price range and are not even a listed company, we are owned by 1 very rich fan. To put it in perspective several members of the playing staff are worth over 1million on there own. For £700,000 you might have brought half ownership of the goalie or some advertising space at the city ground for the season.

Also Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool were in at some point. If this is an example of the football knowledge and common sense displayed by members how are they going to pick a team?

After giving some thought to the above I am appreciating the apprhension of the Fleet fans a lot more.

Part of the reason Leeds ended up on top was because some radio commentator asked Leeds fans to register interest and vote for Leeds as a swipe at Bates.

As can be seen from the press statement - MyFC was approached by a number of clubs and also approached a number of others - many of the clubs could not be dealt with for a variety of reasons - cost - debt - unwillingness to sell etc.

But SOMEONE made a decision that EUFC would be the choice , whether it was one person , or all of those in MYFC Ltd that actually EARN from this venture ( which is more likely )... now they have sold you their dream , Adolf style , and you're paying them for it . How long before the book comes out , so they can earn a bit more from you mugs ?

Hi andyforest

i am a member, in answer to your questions

1) we were alwys told that we would not know who the club was due to 'confidentiality clauses' i do find it strange that ebbsfleet were never in the top 15 clubs though. We do get a vote on wether to proceed with the ebsfleet purchase once due dilligence has taken place but frankly i would be surprised if the majority dont just vote yes without even considering the details.

2) it was a concern for me that people were wanting leeds, forest, chelsea etc. they blatantly had no concept of the level that we could afford (how hard is it to realise that 50K x £27.50 is £1.375m!!) the choice of club votes were made when registering interest in joining when the 50,000 members were being recruited. as only 20,000 actually paid the £35 i hope that most of these members didnt join as it was made clearer to members that league 2/ conference national teams were the most likely club choice.

on the whole i have found the majority of myfc members to be rational people who are passionate about football but with any large number of people there will always be some idiots.

As a signed up member of MyFC, I agree with you completely.

They should have gone for Leigh RMI.

At least then there would be no-one to argue with. wink

It's all a good idea in theory, and could work, but I admit that it is dangerous to play around with real football clubs, with real supporters.

£35 loss for me doesn't mean anything, I'd be much more concerned with possible long term problems for Ebbsfleet.

I'm begining to see that this isn't such a great idea.

Thats not my point though, I am asking why the voting was so bad and is this a sign of things to come.

I think your missing my point, what I am getting at is this level of voting with no common sense going to continue when it comes to selecting teams etc.

I'm not talking about who really pulls the strings etc more if the wisdom of the cowd thing is going to work.

Have there been any other votes with more reasonable results?

Well apparently there is an on going vote about whether MyFC members will be going to the home game against Stafford. It currently stands at 22% saying they will definitely be there. Going to get rather cosy then.

Passionate about football? If they're so passionate about football, why don't they get involved with their local non-league team and help them out, instead of this farce. Football for the Big Brother generation

Hirsty had it right above - if it all goes wrong, all you lot lose is £35. These lads could lose their club

I don't really buy the lose the club thing, ebbsfleet will probably be the richest team this side of midtable league one.

What goes wrong with this experiement would at the worst be relegation.

I have found that quite a number of members do already support a non league side close to home. One of the reasons i joined was incase they picked York City.

I would hope that those responsible for the day to day running of the club after the takeover will be frugal in their budgeting so that should the myfc model not work the club will still be able to sustain itself in the present condition. That is to say that the additional revenue in the first year or two should be seen as a bonus not a regularity.

I must say I am now slightly worried about the real intentions of the MyFC owners behind this.

I am still behind funding the club, I've never been in this for the voting, infact I could say it was a bit of a novelty purchase, i had £35 spare in my Paypal account that was going nowhere.

What I can say is that I am behind the real supporters of EUFC. I think they will come round to the idea but I know some will not. And if this all goes tits up I will be campaigning to put wrong what seemed so right when I purchased my membership. Like it or not lifelong EUFc fans but I thinkI'm here to stay. (it's a funny feeling suddenly having an affiliation to a club)

Before anyone comments, I spend quite a few bob supporting Hereford every year, that isn't going to end. But I'll be spending quite a bit following EUFC too.

Unlikely, but possible! And 1 million every year? Promise? Even if there is no promotion, no cup-run, no decision making, no influence?
