What evidence do you have for this ludicrous statement? At what point do you think the Trust found out about this move?

Bernard, for your information my reference to 'this ludicrous statement' is the following taken from the BBC website:
Jessica McQueen, Ebbsfleet United Supporters' Trust chair commented: "Being a Trust, our members understand the MyFootballClub concept immediately.
"We very much look forward to working with the MyFootballClub members for the benefit of Ebbsfleet United."

ie. The Trust understood the concept immediately and look forward to working with MyFC. If they understood it immediately it doesn't matter when they received the information.

This appears little more than a gimmick . . . not to decry the idea of maximising publicity for GNFC (sorry, Ebbsfleet United).

The story's been on RTHK (Radio Televison Hong Kong) all day, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, Associated Press etc. are getting so excited it's not true.

Some of you will remember me - as an ex-Reporter sports ed - many (particularly those from far flung parts of Europe, Asia, Australia etc. who have merrily given the club cash because it's a 'trendy', thing to do) will not.

I keep in contact with the ups (and downs) of the Fleet via the website, and sometimes wonder what happened to 'my' club?

The name change I live with (reluctantly) but this idea - although possibly well meaning - seems a step too far.

As my erstwhile colleague Chas Webster put it to me in an e-mail only a few hours ago: It's 'franchise football for the Play Station generation'.

I think he sums it up perfectly.

By the way, whatever happened to the shares I bought many years ago?

Jimmy, I have no idea.

But the BBC quote was the reason for my original post that Bernard appears to have latched onto, referring to it as 'ludicrous'.

I have confirmed my source (BBC) hence my quote is not ludicrous, even if Jessica's (mis)quote on the BBC website is incorrect.

One has to assume that as the BBC knew Jessica's name that they must have had some contact / quotation!

Or not Bernard !
I have no axe to grind with anyone at the trust or club, but everything I have learnt is from this forum and media sources, other than the Botley spin letter received last evening which said everything and nothing.
Human contact is dead in this MyFC age !

Okay, well now you know that the Trust Committee (Jessica aside) were as much in the dark as we were before yesterday morning. I think it is important that people are aware this was by no means ratified by the Trust, in the same way that the fans were not consulted about this. Lack of communication is once again, it seems, king.

Found on another thread Bernard. I assume you deny this:

Hi to all

Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Paul, I live in Leicester and have been a member of MYFC since its inception. I am also a moderator of the MYFC Forum.

To answer the question heading this thread, I can say that a central tenet of MYFC policy is that we should have the backing of the fans of any club before any proposals for purchase are completed. As part of the discussions with Ebbsfleet, the Supporters trust were fully consulted and appraised of the details of the plan. This was very important to us. Clearly it would not be viable if we did not have the backing of the local fans. The following statement was made by a member of the Ebbsfleet supporters trust as part ofthe announcement and press release yesterday.

“Also being a Trust, our members understand the MyFootballClub concept immediately. We very much look forward to working with the MyFootbcallClub members for the benefit Ebbsfleet United.”We have also discussed the issue of fan support on our forums for many weeks and in depth and have developed clear policies designed to avoid alienation of the local fans. Indeed we are very keen for Ebbsfleet fans to join us and have a very real say in the development of the club. Many Ebbsfleet fans are members and I can honestly say that the vast majority were delighted that the club we are in talks with is Ebbsfleet.

At the same time I appreciate that there will be fans who have genuine concerns about the whole venture, it is admittedly a radical idea and I can understand why some of you may see it as a threat. I have read many of the comments on here and it is difficult in one post to answer all of them. I am convinced that if some of you joined our organisation you would have a better understanding of what we are about and hopefully realise that we a re not a flight of fancy but that it has been well thought through and that our members are keen to support the club and its existing fan base and not become an invading mob.

If many Ebbsfleet fans were to join then they could become a real force within MYFC and play a significant role in the development of the club. i ask you all to look at it as an opportunity for you, the real fans, to have a real say in that development.

I will be visiting this forum frequently and am happy to try and answer any questions or gripes that you may have. I am quite thick skinned so feel free to be forthright, and I will endeavour to give you my honest opinion.

Thanks for reading this

Paul (MYFC Forum team)

As I previously posted, in this cyber age most of us can only go on what is written in media sources and this messageboard.

Clearly someone is telling a mistruth.

You clearly believe there were no discussions between the Fleet Trust and MyFC, this fellow, presumably a fairly prominent MyFC member, puts a different spin on it.

Sorry Bernard, but when a Statement is made "supposedly" from Jessica, and it is aired on the BBC, then there is a Statement saying there won't be a Statement, then on the Myclubfc website there is another Statement "supposedly", saying the Trust were fully aware and consulted..............It is hard for people to know what to believe, having a go at posters who took all this information in, as I did, doesn't help!

I seem to remember a similar thing happening when the Club changed it's name!

I'm not 'having a go' per se, but I am saying that I'm 100% certain that the Trust Committee members knew nothing about this until the letter/news revealed it. Jessica knew on Sunday and had to make a rushed statement without being able to consult her fellow committee members to find out what their opinions were. An emergency meeting was held last night to discuss the Trust's position. Whatever happened here, it seems clear that the Trust Committee were not, as suggested on this MyFC website, consulted about this move, in the same way that they were not consulted about the name change.
