Taken from the MFC site:

Buying the football club

The most popular club, as voted for by MyFootballClub members, and the one that most closely meets the following criteria, will be purchased:

51% or more of the football club shares can be bought.

There is none, or a manageable debt.

The club has the potential to reach the Premiership.

The size of the stadium and the availability of public transport.

The club is amenable to our approach.

Is it me or are we going to struggle on one of their criteria?

Fleet didn't even reach the first one!

That was always a kind of dubious criterion. Given the right circumstances, what club couldn't reach the EPL...someday.

And you'll hear some dreamers talk about when "our club" wins the Champions League, too. Do what we do, smile and nod and up their meds.

Someday, maybe decades away, if EVERYTHING goes right, it's not inconceivable that EUFC can reach the EPL. By 2010, like some would like to think? nope.

Every club in the England as "potential" to reach the Premiership with enough money and time!

If the poll to select the club you intend to own is 'silly', where does that leave the entire concept?

I don't think it impinges on the concept at all. They tried an idea, it didn't work. Live and learn. And, to anticipate the next objection, I don't think that "live and learn", in this case, is going to lead EUFC to disaster. The immediate reaction from existing fans seems to me to assume many, many facts not in evidence.

But I guess we'll all find out one way or the other, now.

I don't believe the poll itself was silly. The process of having it there sparked a number of research projects and discussions that helped the members shape their views on the endeavor. What was a problem with the poll is that members initially had to commit to a team as they signed up for the site, not even fully knowing yet what they were signing up for in many cases. For many weeks, we were unable to adjust our choices and some ludicrous names camped out embarrassingly among out top 15. When the webteam built a feature to allow us to change our initial votes, some of the silly candidates disappeared quickly as members learned more about the reality of buying a club. Unfortunately, we never did get rid of Leeds. But it's immaterial now. The MyFC members seem very happy to be involved with EUFC and we hope you'll join us as well.

What a large piece of bait for the gullible!

Easy to see why Fleet fans are concerned over this isn't it?

Yes, if it were actually that simple a reduction, it would be easy to characterize the way you have. We both know it was never that simplistic.

Who said the poll didn't give us an answer we wanted? I believe that the voting table was considered when the purchase team began doing its search. Many of the teams ranked highly were not feasible for debt or stadium reasons, so they were bypassed. EUFC was the best fit, in the view of the purchase team, of the sides we ranked and of those who approached us.

Once MyFC has made the purchase, I sincerely suspect and hope it's a union of great staying power. I plan to be a part of this endeavor for many years. I hope in years to come we'll enjoy success together. Enough, before I sound like a Hallmark Card, but it's honestly how I feel and the reason I joined MyFC in the first place, to be a part of something like this club.
