For MyFC people. How a football club SHOULD be.

I do understand what is being siad here. This is a small club for locals and the local community. I can understand that as a romantic ideal and I do have some regret that the MyFC project has 'robbed' you of this.

Something to think about though is your last line - "this is not the way I wanted the club to move forward". How did you want the club to move forward? I'm not suggeting that our way is perfect but presumably by using the words "move forward" you are suggesting you'd like to see league football and hopefully be able to consolidate within the football league.

Although you now have a huge membership who 'own' the club (or probably will have soon) we aren't looking to take the club away from the fans. Yes Ebbsfleet will be a different club with hopefully better facilities over time but surely to "move on" these things would come anyway....inevitably with glory hunting local fans who used to support arsenal!

I'm just not sure you can have it both ways - if you want to see Ebbsfleet flourish as a team and a club then MyfC isn't a bad route. If however you want to keep the same small club, local club ethos then I will admit this isn't the best way forward.

I'm just not sure you can have it both ways though..

I personally don't think there was any rush for us to move things on so quickly. We have had comfortable position in the league and have done for two seasons now (before we were bottom half) and there was plently of time for the club to gain the financial strength to move forward. The sponsor from Eurostar was a step forward if only a small one. We're getting a new stadium. Attendances was of course a big issue but over the years, who knows? It could have been tackled. It may not have done either, but we will never know now do we. If we moved up into the next league in the near future, it will be down to your money - not because we have got there on our own merit.

Don't get me wrong, the input from the MyFc solves many financial issues but I feel as though the heart of the club has gone.

Pathetic, small minded responses.

I am a MYFC member and am amazed by the borderline hysterics of some of the responses on these forums. People ask - Where's the passion - I ask why do you care???

You are quite right in comments about little impact on gates or support, you are even correct that most MYFC members are intrigued by the idea of playing Football Manager 2008 for real, again I ask why do you care???

What has happened in reality is this, your club has been sold.

Oh, and on top of that 20,000+ complete strangers are now going to put pushing £1m into your club every year (assuming the numbers stay in - even is they don't it's a revenue stream the club never had)

On Saturday afternoon the same diehard fans will turn out to support their team week in week out rain, sleet, snow and sun no matter they will always be there because they are the true fans not the guys from MYFC.

For the time being we are playing a game with your club however nobody plays to lose and the MYFC 'experiment' will only be proven by the success of the club and as such everyone at MYFC will strive to make that happen.

Surely every fan wants their club to succeed, however after reading through a lot of these posts it would seem that some - Hannah being one - would rather have her own little club to herself and isn't overly bothered about any success.

There are always to sides to a story and to refuse point blank to look at the positives from this is as said at the top small minded and pathetic

I think at this point in time, it seems as if 20,000 fans r gonna try to walk through the turnstiles and immediately make out they're true fans. I think when it comes to matchdays, the club's heart will still be there and the takeover will be forgotten for that time being. I'm sure we'll still have the same people week in week out, cheering the team on.

Let's give it time before coming to a conclusion, but its not surprising load of us Fleet fans are angry at the concept, I myself isn't exactly the happiest bunny, but I'm prepared to see how it goes.

Up the Fleet.

siddy i would love to but i don't earn that much. and i know LD does not all make the right move but to take that much control from him and than have a vote on it could take ages and if the system's go down, it like my mum say too many chief not enogh indians

Nobster - calm down mate we're trying to get to know these fans not alienate them on day 1 - I'm sick of reading some of the stupid posts that have been written by people purporting to be MyFC members - what's your MyFC avatar cos I certainly don't recognise you.

Kevin - You're right, it is understandable and I'm sure I'd be the same if it were my team (though I think Leicester would have to srop a bit first!). One of the intersting things about this is that Ebbsfleet will become everyone's 2nd team and for quite a few of us (the MyFC crew) I can see them rivalling our 1st teams (i watched leicester at quorn in a friendly and loved the small club feeling - very different from the big boys and more real). Ten years from now will we still count as 'fake' fans?? Personally I see us more as friends than anything else -friends who are prepared to pay for something may of you must have wanted for years - a real shot at the big time. As you say, give it time, but like you we'll all be watching and waiting with baited breath come the big day.

I look forward to meeting you one day

With a username like "nobster" I wasn't expecting an intelligent response.

And I have said on other threads that it will take some getting used to but it can be done, I'm just telling you how I feel on day one.

And if you can't accept the views of original fans then don't bother posting here.

In case you are not aware of the process, the theory is this;

There would be a team vote starting at some point before the next game, for sake of argument lets say Noon the day after the previous game, there will also be a closing time for voting which will be some time before the match, maybe 12 noon a couple of days before kickoff, LD will be provided with the elected teamsheet and (not sure of included yet) tactics. This gives him a couple of days to work with the team for the next match. This info WILL NOT be public info and as such is not available to competitors. The team would be published on the web an hour before kickoff (the same time as handed to Ref and the press).

Any injuries after voting closes will be dealt with by LD and replacements decided by him, all tactical changes and subs during a match will be LD's responsibility. If the system went down then obviously LD would be responsible for picking the team.

Government policy is often made based on polling, that polling generally being around 1000 random people, here we are talking a 20,000 person poll - IT WILL NOT BE WRONG - based on the info provided.

Hannah and toddybad - don't get me wrong I was hoping to stir up some of the 'passion' that will be missing, but also to add a cold, realistic point of view devoid of passion.

It just seems to me that there are a lot of Gravesend fans who either do not want change, or do not want it at 'such a cost' and are happy with the status quo. I personally am a ManUtd fan (opening myself to even more ridicule) and obviously after the Glazer takeover a lot of Utd fans had a similar problem, loss of identity of their club etc. In truth it had absolutely no impact whatsoever, except of course Utd won the Premier League in the first full season of Glazer ownership.

There was a figure quoted in an earlier thread about home attendances of less than 1000 for less glamorous games, so my question is a simple one, if the next time an expected get of 1000 turns into 2500 and those extra 1500 are shouting, singing, abusing the ref and getting right behind the team, does it really matter where they came from?

I've already bought a ticket for Oxford on Saturday. But

a. I'm not expecting a very warm welcome

b. I'm not going to walk in pretending I'm a true fan or even pretend I 'Own' the club.

I would quite like to see an entertaining game of conference football, and 3 points for a side, like it or not, that I now have a vested interest in, quite possibly, for the rest of my life.

That doesn't mean that I consider myself anywhere near a 'true' fan of Ebbsfleet.

Personally I don't think much will change. The MyFC members will 'vote' on their team, this will be passed on to Liam, who will then pick his own team and tell the MyFC members that the players they picked (that he didn't want in his team) were injured, ill etc.

I have supported the Fleet for a few years now and it's good to see the club in the news and getting so much media attention. Hopefully that new stadium might not be so far away - lets face it when the MyFC members see the dump that is Stonebridge Road you can be sure they'll want a shiny new ground. That's where my vote would go - at least that way if this all does go tits up the fans are left with a broken club with a nice ground!

Thing is, this is going to happen now, if you can't beat 'em might as well join 'em. I'll probably be putting my £35 in.

democracy is great so long as you keep it away from the people....

Actually you've butchered a rather grand statement from one of the icons of the 20th century.

F.D Roosevelt in fact said:

In his speach 'The arsenal of democracy'. Our national policy is not directed toward war. Its sole purpose is to keep war away from our country and away from our people.

At least learn a real quote, and not take some obsidian quote as if you know it to be your own.
