For MyFC people. How a football club SHOULD be.

Recommended Posts

I am a Southport fan, not involved with and opposed to MyFC

I feel sorry for all the Gravesend fans (yes, Gravesend, I do them a disservice should I call them Ebbsfleet). By fans read the proper fans, not the "20,000 fans who are going to turn around the clubs fortunes over night"

Find me the number of fans of one Premiersihp team that go to every single game home and away in a season, I'll find you the same number of Gravesend fans or not far off, at least. You can't watch the games down the pub, on the net, majority of the time you can't listen to commentary on the radio. Go and watch a non-league team. There'll be fans that care more about their club than anything else. I know people whose marriages have been ended for watching Southport. It's alright for the United fans around the country, they can just watch it on tele.

Buy purchasing, or the intention of purchasing, Gravesend, you've reduced them into a mere plaything. None of your 20,000 care as passionately as any of the fans tat have turned out at stonebridge road for the past x years. You're in it for the novelty. You havent forked out £35 because you're football fans, you've forked out £35 because you're bored.

God forbid this farce works out and you buy another club, god forbid you "buy" Southport, I'm straight off to Burscough. Because it's not "my" team any more. That tight-knit community of fans who go through footballing thick and thin just isn't there anymore. There'll be another x number of people who have just turned up to see the novelty, the circus act, where their £35 has gone.

Perhaps the thing MyFC fans should be most ashamed of, is the fact you've robbed Gravesend of it's identity (granted the name change did that anyway). People won't remember Gravesend for being founder members of the Conference, or for winning the Isthmian (sp?). No, people will remember Gravesend for being "that club MyFC killed off"

Gravesend fans, as a true football fan, I hope this does somehow work out for you. I hope I'm wrong and it is successful but I can't see that being the case.

All the best.

James

Finally someone here is speaking sense and they're not even an Ebbsfleet supporter.
This move has given us bags of money, but wheres the passion?
I thought it was only the Premiership that was ruled by money.
This is not the way I wanted the club to move forward frown

So Gravesend have as many fans as premiership teams? Where do you get that from? At the moment people don't remember Gravesend for the things you mention anyway so whats the difference. They might remember Gravesend for being owned by fans and taken to the football league.

But you're not the fans, WE are the fans!
You would have taken any non-league club they offered you.
You are "fans" because you have been told you are.

I'd rather the club wasn't remembered for your input.

Errrr.......don't worry yourself, why would we contemplate buying a tinpot BS North team?

Oh dear. frown

Completely share your sentiments James, and as a supporter of a club which was a permanent fixture on the Top 15 Clubs most voted for, I would be mortified if it was my club and not Ebsfleet.

Thats right, you are the fans and still are. You no doubt are locals who turn up through thick and thin anyhow. Will that change because myfc are now owners? I am a my FC member and wont insult you by claiming that Ive become a massive fleet fan over night. I now have a vested interest in YOUR club, and along with 20000 other football fans,we have generated a potential revenue stream for YOUR club. You are right we'd have taken any non-league club but the fact is your directors approached myfc and it just so happens that the non league club that was chosen was YOURS.

True but you too can invest and become a co-owner of the club that you support.

Technically, the statement "owned by the fans" is misleading but I reckon it means by the fans of the game in general, which MyFC members all are.

It's not owned by me. I'm not a MyFC member, I support Forest home and away and don't need anyother club to take up my time or money. I am neutral, I just happen to think it will work and is interesting.

You should notice I said "fans" not "your fans" these people are clearly football fans or they wouldn't bother.

Plus you original fans have the choice to join.

You all give the impression you want to stay small with no extra publicity or fans.

Yawn.

There's a world of difference between "extra publicity and fans" and having your club completely taken over by a bunch of people with no interest or connection who fancy a game of real-life Football Manager

What do people expect to happen? GK up front? No one in goal.

What will happen is nothing much. The team on saturday will be the same as usual. The attandance will go up 5% and maybe a bit of money spent in Jan.

No giant football club eating monsters will come. Just a few people who love football. It's not the end of the world.

The fact the board sought out investment shows they probably needed a bit of cash to stave off financial problems and make the next step into the league.

How would you feel if it was Forest. I can't beleive any right-minded person who loves football can go along with MyFC. It is just as bad as the MK Don's situation and does not respect the wishes of Gravesend fans. That said this would never have happened unless sanctioned by the board and they should hang their heads in shame.

its a valid point that req fans to reuires the new fans to research the team, view reports from the coaching staff, look at recomendations, use our membership data base to scout the world for players etc. The vast number of members will be beyond the 20000 spoken about at present as 50000 people expressed an intrest at the start but have yet to become a member. THe best way to see it is from yourself and join so we are all fans owners and managers
