A sensible opinion from an original fan of GNFC.

At present people are moody because they feel the directors have taken their club away from them and Dave feels upset because he will no longer be able to make out he's all important when in fact he's not.

Lets look at the facts.

Attendances are dwindling - 850, 900 pepole is what we're getting through the gates for an unfashionable opponent. Even with Eurostar sponsorship this is not enough to sustain full time football. The directors have put a substantial amount of cash out of their own pockets into the club. We as the supporters can yell and moan all we like, but without the direct investment from the directors this club would have been back in the Ryman league. Therefore, they are entitled to make decisions on behalf of the club whether we like it or not. Less we forget it was this board who obtained the significant sponsorship deal with Eurostar in the first place.

The club has to be forward looking over the next ten years - In order to survive the club needs to think about the next generation of fans not the 50y old die hard fans who are already at the club. We need to offer a new fan base something different that will stop them going to Charlton, Gillingham, Arsenal, Spurs etc. Having a chance to have some affinity with a club will certainly do that. The home counties and London have a population of about 10 mio. This is a huge catchment area. This is the most adventurous and innovative scheme that has ever been set up in THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL. We should embrace it as we have no alternatives, if we'd carried on as we were we would end up bankrupt and attendances in ten years in a shoddy worn out stadium would be in the 200s. Is that what people want to see for their club? If you do, then you are no loss to any club as a supporter and we should embrace those that want to come from around the country/world to be a part of this dynamic new team.

The number of subscribed customers to myfootballclub is already over 50k. Imagine the press that the club is now going to get over the next few days, months, years with this set up. We've already been told this story is getting airtime in the States. Do the maths, if they quadruple the number of subscribers to 200k which with this new press and marketing machine i think will be possible, we'll be looking at an additional total revenue of 5.25m GBP (not taking into account myfootballs charge)

This sort of money will easily enable us to get out of this division and then who knows....We're not even taking into account the number of marketing spin offs we can now take into account like additional shirt sales etc etc. Yes people will fall by the way side each year but i feel confident that new people will come on board and be excited and enticed by the propspect of having a say in a football club.

Look at it all closely, this is one unique oppurtunity and we should feel proud that our club has been chosen. At the end of the day, if it goes wrong, we will be in no worse a position than if we hadnt embraced it. Change scares people, Lets be forward thinking and get behind the club and see where this unique adventure brings us.

Up Ebbsfleet United.

I agree

If every thing was finacially rosy the Ebbsfleet board wouldn't have approached MyFC. I would think there is more chance of the club going down without MyFC than with them.

Think how many people there are in the world interested in the English leagues. A few promotions, foreign news stories in Asia, North America and Europe and the trust could easy have 200k owners if not 1 million. Plus massive gates, a new stadium, sponsorship etc. Am I rght in thinking Kent only has the Gills. They could be in league two next year and Ebbsfleet could overtake them. Gillingham don't have a massive following so the kids in Kent must be supporting London teams or Man U. This could change that.

I'm not saying all this will happen but it is possible as of this morning and without MyFC it isn't.

Yeh you're post is good at pointing out all the potential advantages and yes they sound appealing but like Kev says, what about tradition?

We've given in to the money obsessed 21st century. We have sold half our club to random people on a website.

This is the only thing that concerns me, theres nothing quite like seeing all the Gravesendians together in unison at the club despite there not being many of us and I fear it will never be the same again.

I admit I don't like change and I'm stubborn but you can't please everyone.

Sounds like a lot of you want the club to stay in non league. The premiership is a higher level you know.

I know about this because I am a MyFC member, but the rest of the United States will soon enough.

This is just the start of a tremendous amount of press. I hope that soon the current fans can come to realize that it doesn't hurt their club to have some yanks, kiwis, aussies and the rest of the world as a supporters!

Of course I'd rather go higher. But at what cost? Certainly not by the MYFC way.

Oh and by the way, is this the EA who shut down two large development offices (one in the UK) in the last week?

Not those particular games, but I am flying over in February strictly for football purposes i.e. a pint, a game and to meet fans and people who believe that this idea can work and are passionate about grassroots campaigns. I am sure that I am not the only one to do this or will do this in the next few months, years and beyond.

Hannah, what you are saying about tradition is all well and good, and like other posts about keeping it for local Gravesend people, is fine as a concept, BUT and here's the big BUT, Gravesend people, by and large don't give a stuff about the Fleet.

I stand with people who travel up from all over Kent and discussion always comes down to why do local people not support their club.

Yes there there are a few local supporters (you) that care about the tradition of the Fleet, but not enough.

There is still a place for all Fleet fans, but now we will be everyone's second club and finally the club will have some cash!

Let's get behind it!
