True, unless there's some form of regular independent inspection, which I'd place money on there being. Want to take that bet?

You're right that there's a theoretical possibility of manipulation, although I don't see it as very likely. At least no more likely than a player being "gotten to" and throwing a match. But until the votes actually begin, none of us knows precisely what the mechanism will be like. For me, picking the team isn't the primary attraction, although for many members it's the only attraction. We're definitely a diverse lot.

I'll bet that the program used in the database to calculate the team and formation doesn't simply add the number of votes for each player in each position, but rather has some weighting ability in it which can be altered.

Too much like football manager to be a successful system

That's not fair though is it, even muppets who play football manager know you don't succeed with a team full of forwards.

American Fleet makes the most pertinent point against the idea, how realistically does a coach prepare for a match in training during the week not knowing who is likely to be playing at the weekend? How can a coach build the foundations of a team not knowing what the tactics are likely to be? With this system there can be no long term thinking, I'd like to see MyFC answer that, I've suddenly gone very cool on the idea.

We have to remember that while they'll be a few nuts choosing stupid squads, once you start getting into the tens of thousands, you're going to get a pretty solid squad selection. At the end of the day we all want the team to do well and I bet that the squad picked each time, especially by 20,000+ fans will be damn near everybodies first choice team. Enough people will average out to make good choices.

B*gger my old boots ( again !)

This is getting worse than one of those sh*t so called reality shows.

So, let me get this straight. Our manager, who appears now to have the title of Head Coach, Liam Daish ( for new people who don't know !), has got a squad of players together, trains with them most days & implements desired teams tactics. That is the same Liam Daish who played for Republic of Ireland and has not got a bad record of management in non league football.

You are now telling me that he has to get "approval" of said decisions by a consensus from 20k people ? Is there a Bobby Robson or Venables in the 20k ? If not then Liam has to have his decisions ratified by people who have no experience in running a team whatsoever ( unless there are some "dark horses" amongst you !). Computer football management games don't count with me !!

The lunatics have taken over the asylum !!
