Out of 20,00 members, there are going to be a small % of people who are going to upset you the fans with their brain-dead comments. There always is.

However, the majority of people on the MyFootballClub forum seem intelligent enough and respectful enough to the real fans of the club.

I’m one of the 20,000 people who paid up months ago, but had no idea what club was going to be chosen.

However, I'm unsure of how it is going to work if I am honest. For example, what happens with regards to bringing on subs. There's a load of questions that need to be answered. Too many.

I just hope it works and the real fans of Ebbsfleet accept what is happening to their club.

I'm sure it is a good thing. Money-wise and exposure will be massive +'s.

I'm an Arsenal fan, with Ebbsfleet my second team. I'll go the to the Torquay game in February due to my location in Devon.

Finally, I have no idea about your club or players so until I get to know them and become more educated, I'll get the people on here to make my required votes.

Where does it state that you will vote on picking the team....I really cant see this happening at all....

In the FAQs, it says the following:
"How will the team be picked?"

The Head Coach will brief members. This will include a review of the previous match, reports from the training ground and views on the forthcoming opposition. He will also give his thoughts on players, their form and fitness, as well as possible selections and tactics.

Members will then submit their preferred 11, formation and tactics. A database will calculate the most popular choice. This will be handed to The Head Coach to instigate.

Too much like football manager to be a successful system

The actual voting mechanism hasn't been put into place yet as there will be a transition period where the current staff continue making all the decisions, but I don't think the eventual voting system is reduced to a simple popularity contest among all players.

There's been some suggestion that the Head Coach will submit a proposed team and that one option is simply to run with his side. I think it will probably be a fairly unusual event when his suggestions are overruled by the thousands of voting members.

But I'm fairly certain we won't be fielding a side with two keepers up front.

How could this possibly be successful. I could sign up to MyFC (I'm an Exeter fan), I could take part in team selection and be given all the info regarding form etc, I will then be told the tactics and team before the match. Every manager in the BSP will be party to this info putting Ebbsfleet at a big disadvantage before a ball is kicked.

The whole thing is just barmy

Thats awfully big of you !

How do you root out the retards, the schoolkids and general Arsenal fans....?
In other words, Do all member's votes carry the same weight ?

For example...a muppet, with one brain cell, might like to play 3-4-3, because it works in FM08....and this vote carries equal weight to an experienced analyst of the game, who may have followed Ebbsfleet for years....

Which then makes a mockery of the "Own the club, pick the team" plastered on the front page of the myfootballclub website. How it's got this far when something as fundemental to the whole model like this hasn't even been nailed down, I don't know.

The actual results of the vote aren't announced until team sheets are released anyway, so no one, not even the MyFC members know the outcome of the team vote until it's made public.

The point of the large group of members is that the "muppets," as you're fond of calling them, don't sway the general decision. The whole idea is based on a fairly demonstrable idea that large groups of people make better decisions--as a group--than even expert individuals. The fringe votes don't affect the outcome.

Playing Devils Advocat! If the members don't know the vote until the team is announced.....Isn't that leaving the result open to manipulation by one or more people?

I still have trouble accepting how this vote will take part in the limited time the manager has.

How will the manager know who to include in set piece training for the following match, if he doesn't know which team he will be allowed to play?

How will the voters know if the player has gone down with the flu that morning, pulled up in training, or in warm up etc etc, its a crap idea will be a unworkable disaster

Not really - think of the numbers you'd have to manipulate.

As to the rest, I think it's something that can only really be debated once the detailed system's known (ie: when the voting takes place, if the vote's on the coach's selection or a change or whatever, when the vote's announced, etc).

edit: and it'd be insane to not have a method for the coach to swap out a suddenly injured/sick player. Just remember MyFC's going to want the club to do as well as it possibly can.
