Spurs' application for Whitewebbs - Approved!

The Spurs' planning application for a training ground and academy at Whitewebbs was approved by the Planning Committee of Enfield Council last night.

After vigorous representations both for and against, the Committee voted by 9 to 4 to accept their Planning Officer's recommendation to grant planning permission, subject to several conditions.

It means if Enfield council had initially approved the Bulls Cross planning application (instead of playing posture politics),Spurs would have now been committed to build Enfield Town Fc a new stadium at the QE.

Enfield Council skull ...On behalf of all us local football fans that you have stitched up ONCE AGAIN. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! flame :

Rumour has it,that the council didn't want Spurs building local facilites on the QE site, because their snouts can smell the offer of mega bucks for the land ,from a certain Mr David Lloyd.

Our council couldn't give a toss about our two local non league clubs,so i didn't expect yours to be different.Shame because years ago councils used to take pleasure in something good for the community, now if it isn't a shopping centre or housing for immigrants they couldn't give a hoot.

Oh and they care about parking tickets and the fines associated with it

Exactly!

Councils are under so much pressure on budget and land.Mainly through the current levels of migration into Britains Towns and Cities, but also because of individuals councils corruption and incompetence.

Non league football is slowly dying. You can see that through attendance figures.Migration levels have created two problems. It puts big strains on council resources (which mean local sport, open space, and community spirit and pride are bumped even further down the list of priorities. It also means councils have to sell land to big business in order to fund increased demand for public services) BUT just as significantly, these new inward populations that are settling in Towns and cities will never pay money to watch local football.Whilst the tradional support base that did, are moving further and further away from the clubs they do/once supported.

You have a point LS, although clubs like Sporting Bengal, Kingsbury London Tigers and Sport London e Benfica suggest that the immigrant population are not quite as uninterested in local football as you might think.

Accepted, but i think if you look at those clubs attendances,it will tell you all you need to know about whether those communities are/would be ever willing to pay to watch local sport. If those clubs you mention can't attact support from their own communites ,what chance do clubs like Enfield Town/Edgware have of attacting ethnic local residents? The answer? Not much hope at all.So whilst a local clubs tradional casual fanbase diminishes year on year,so communities that are not interested in those home towns clubs will increase and increase in the area.It doesn't bode well.
