Horsham v Swansea

Interesting to see that they're hoping to extend their capacity for the game with a temporary stand. From "The Argus":-

Quote:
Horsham had no problems coping with a crowd of 3,379 on Saturday and will not switch the tie, which is scheduled for December 1.

They hope to increase capacity at the AtSpeed Stadium from 3,500 to 8,000 and are keeping their fingers crossed that the tie attracts live television coverage which would earn the club a share of £150,000.

They average about 100 less than us in the league, and have 50,000 townsfolk compared to 40,000 here. I suspect they're being slightly ambitious, but good luck to them if they can do it!

Ooh err.. I'm talking about attendances. Must have spent too much time on the sloppybox today.

It will happen one day. As I said to Mr Kent after the game on Saturday, we should now aim to make the first round every year, regularly playing League clubs over the seasons, not looking at it as one-off treat every ten years or so, making the next ambition get in that second round ! Then who knows...

From Non League Daily:-

Quote:
"Ryman League Premier Division club Horsham have been told to reduce the capacity for their FA Cup Second Round tie against Swansea City.

Safety regulations mean only 2,850 will be allowed into the Atspeed Stadium on Friday, November 30th.

Horsham attracted 3,379 for their first round victory against Maidenhead United last Saturday, but the club were hoping to increase the capacity from 3,500 to 8,000.

But secretary John Lynes said: "The capacity was reassessed by the fire officerand we have to put in a barrier to segregate Swansea and home fans."

Plans to construct a temporary stand have been abandoned.

But Lynes revealed the club would not have been able build it anyway.

He said: "There is no access for vehicles to bring their equipment down Queen Street. It is too small."

Don't suppose they're too bothered now it's on TV.
