Don't think we can pick up XFM this far north-I've heard that Gervais & Connell are pretty good. Radio 2 is getting better, but still playlist orientated.

Which station do you work for EFMTFTV?

Any list with Gun Club (JL Pierce (RIP) - a great songwriter), Bongwater and NY Dolls in it cannot be bad.

Bongwater / Kramer Shimmy Disc - one of the great contributions to music as we know it. I will never forget the day back in 1989 I first heard Double Bummer and its crazed covers of The Monkees / Led Zep and G Glitter. 'Women Tied Up In Knots' is off another absolute classic record 'The Power of Pussy', although I prefer 'Nick Cave Dolls' and the title track myself.

Other S Disc faves are the amazing Fred Lane, B.A.L.L (especially Trouble Doll), the amazing Shockabilly (Kramer and Eugene Chadbourne), Tinklers and of course releases by the fantastic Walking Seeds.

Memories...

We actually did Bongwater on one of our FM shows as "Lost band of the week" and we played a few more, I remember mentioning all them above (we do a bio on each band), I especially loved "Talent is a vampire"

As for Chris Moyles - despite all my rantings on here about various things and people it's true that sometimes the old phrase "If you haven't got something nice to say about someone, then don't say anything" springs to mind!

God yeah, 'Talent is a vampire' that's the one that starts with a bizarre spoken word discussion between 3 or 4 laid back NY 'chicks', I think, and can be found on another absolutely excellent LP, 'Too Much Sleep'. I revisted 'Double Bummer' last night and am still laughing at the track 'David Bowie Wants Ideas' - unreal.

David Bowie Wants Ideas was played on the Hangover show as well; it's good to hear other Bongwater fans still have the faith.

On the current Hangover shows on rotation there's a couple of tracks by the sometime Bongwater guitarist known as Dogbowl, taken from his Greatest Hits Vol 2. One of the tracks, 'Growing Up In A Wheelchair' is particularly Bongish.

Top DJs

1 Tony de la Fou (PhonixFM)

2 Colin Toms (Phoenix FM)

3 Jonathan Ross (Radio 2)

4 John Peel (Radios 1, 4 and World Service)

5 Sara Cox (Radio 1)

Of course, how could I forget the mighty Stephen Tunney aka Dogbowl! I first heard his track 'Rosemary in Red' off the 'A compilation of Quiet Music' Shimmy Disc compilation, my favourite on that release, and then all the solo LPs - 'Tit...An Opera', 'Project Success' and the seminal 'Cyclops Nuclear Submarine Captain' etc.. A true songwriting hero. His LP with Kramer 'Hot Day in Waco' is top quality, as is the other which includes a track about gay cowboys - hilarious.
