FA Cup 1st round

Recommended Posts

I believe congratulations are in order for our friends at Harrogate Railway, who beat Droylsden today 2-0 to get into the 2nd round.

Staines got a 1-1 draw at Stockport, Hampton lost 3-0 at home to Dagenham and Redbridge, and Maidenhead lost 4-1 to Horsham.

Thanks for that KT, didn't really need reminding of that...they're more inconsistant that Slough are at the moment (which is really saying something).

And good news for other Rebels...the scum lost 2-1 against Swindon in the cup.

The locals living around me are going to love that attendance !

At the last residents meeting I attended about Horsham's new ground (a few hundred yards from my house), people were moaning about 800 wen Wimbledon turned up.

Horsham put tickets on sale on Tuesday and Thursday only, and sold 2000 of them. Maidenhead took at least 6 coaches of fans as well.

Anyway, well done to Horsham, and all the others who took scalps on 1st round day.

Maidenhead were doomed from the moment I donned my treasured Slough Town Supporters Club lapel badge, given to me by Dick James in 1961 on the way home from Dulwich Hamlet. Its magic powers saw STFC through first round ties against against Wycombe, Millwall and Walsall and also that fantastic trophy match at Stevenage. Unfortunately experience so far suggests that they only work once a season. Let's hope that the BBC were sufficiently enthused by Nigel Brake's long range tap-in to make us one of their televised games.

We had an all round great day yesterday. Thanks to Horsham Rebel for his pre-match message of support on our forum and every good wish to all of you who are striving so hard to keep the name of Slough Town alive in such difficult circumstances.

That attendance against Maidenhead was amazing, and just goes to show what can be done with the whole town behind you.

For the Swansea game there's even talk of them increasing the capacity to 8,000 with a temporary stand, which in itself is impressive.

I see Staines are getting the live Sky TV coverage next Monday evening, but I won't mention it here as it won't go down well with King Tut wink
