The atmosphere at HdP

How about build a decent ground. Get a squad together that could get us back into the confrence and a side playing attractive and exciting football. Thats bound to create a better atmosphere.

How about simply getting the fans who go the game to actually support the team? Might be a start, don't you think? If we're not winning after 15 minutes, the crowd immediately get on the players' backs which does absolutely nothing for the confidence of the team. Further to this, some more singers would be nice? As Paul said, we have about 8 at the most, and there is a limit as to how much noise 8 people can make! More singing would equal a better atmosphere and, subsequently, better form on the pitch, I believe.

Well I for one never get on the players backs but even tho I am Welsh, singing is not my thing but I will still shout and offer my support when needed.

Moaning old farts...I dont think so saint, there may be 8 people that sing, but belive me there are a lot more people that have been with the GATE throu good times and bad,and the good times will come again, but ,they are all good fans of MARGATE FOOTBALL CLUB...UP THE GATE.

This debate has croped up a few times those of us who used to sing when we were one of the loudest set of fans. Are still there but the enthusiasam has long gone. I agree we should all try our best to get it going again. Trouble is i see them all scattered about. We need to all stand together again, last time this happend was at Whitstable. Mind you the beer helped.

Not a singer myself-but with you in spirit and admiration chaps-but it strikes me that a bit of 'atmosphere' was lost when in the summer months the club built the new shop and extended the club room at the hartsdown end, so effectively there is only room for about 20 people under cover.

progress is progress, but to lose the 'covered' terrace at both ends took something away with it imo.

Hopefully when the Tivoli end is rebuilt with a roof ,the 'atmosphere' will return

It frustrates me. Numerous things have gone on with misa which I dont like. Many promises have been made that don't seem to come to anything by the club. Yes we have the 5 a side pitches so that is a positive. If the board of the good old days had replaced the old wooden stand with something modern and hadn't knocked 80% of the old ground down i'm sure we wouldn't have got into this mess. I've been supporting margate for the last 20 years. I used to stand with my grandfather and still do. Many ups and many downs but now my patience is running thin. I'm sure i'll be up there again but at the moment i'd rather spend my money on our new house.

This is (for the most part) all really good stuff so keep it coming. For me it paints quite a broad picture - and I always thought it would - and that there are a great number of issues that contribute to the "loss" of atmosphere.

I'm going to be making a couple of tweaks to what I do via the PA so I'd appreciate your feedback following Saturday's game.

As the thread is still generating interest I'm going to hold off putting something together until next week but I will share it here as well as with the directors.

You are a long way from the lesser known part of Mersey side as i am from the Potteries. When i go to watch the gate, other than looking at the 1/2 time results, i have only thoughts for the Gaaaaaate. Any anthem that will raise the atmosphere in the ground i will sing along with. What Songs do you sing along to on the Manchester road out of Liverpool.
