The atmosphere at HdP

Wellsie

Recommended Posts

I was chatting to one of the directors after last night’s game about the atmosphere at HDP. We were specifically talking about what it is we might do via the PA to help encourage a more up-beat and participative atmosphere at home games. So what do you think? Is there something I can do with music and announcements? What else would help / encourage a positive impact on the atmosphere? All ideas and observations welcome.

Thanks.

Yep. Pagey has it spot on there!
Of course the "Rubettes" would help too! laugh singing TONIGHT

Tonight won't be like any night
Tonight the stars up in the sky
Will be shining for me and my baby Margate tonight

Tonight we'll climb the highest height

Tonight won't be like any night . . .

Oh for one of those nights again!

Seriously I personally just dont like Wellsies music! I find it "drab" & it has been used for a few seasons now.

Sorry Steve, but you did ask & said all comments would be considered.

But mainly, again,as mentioned above & agreed upon by others, the form on the pitch is the ONE thing that WILL lift peoples spirits.

I'm positive three league wins on the TROTT will help big-time!!

There's the handful (usually no more than about eight of us) who will always try and be vocal and sing to support the team. We do have a good team, and from watching them week in week out home and away I can tell that positivity and support gives them the confidence to play to their ability. Like anyone, if all they can hear is groaning when they miss a chance, they will tend to be nervous about taking another shot or trying something. It's a shame we aren't more positive with our support at home games when things aren't going to plan. I can't see it changing though. Back to league action now and if the team finds confidence we could go on a decent run and easily get back into the top 5.

No probs Tony, I appreciate your thoughts. Strangely though I try to mix new and old and when I do get positive comments it tends to be in reference to the older tracks. Not only that I produce a different play list every game. Mind you, some of the stuff sounds all the same to me! But still, keep the thoughts coming.

I guess the supplementary question that comes to my mind, is around how close to kick off the ground seems to "fill" up. The comparison to Leamington (an example given to me) is unrealistic as of course their ground is in the middle of nowhere. But, what would encourage more people into HdP earlier?

An "infinte" play list is tricky but ideas (I hesitate to talk about "requests") would help. How would people react to dedications ovre the PA for example?

My thought too. I think the atmosphere is better when we start off kicking towards the Hartsdown Road stand. I guess we'll have to wait for a roof at the other end.

This is really great folks. Keep 'em coming. I'm going to try and do some "real" work now but I'll take a look this evening and put a consolidated note together over the next couple of the days based on your feedback and share it with the directors and supporters.
