Now gone 86 minutes without conceding !!

Despite not being by most reports the better side on saturday, maybe we were not just lucky.

The point of the defence not conceding or conceding just the one goal, is that even if outplayed for 90 mins. you can always snatch a draw or even victory;and is that not exactly what occurred on saturday.

Had we conceded two goals, against a strong defence like Leamington's despite our reasonable forward line, would we have been likely to get two goals-twice as hard as getting one (or even one refs decision in your favour).

If RT can get those two quality defenders in,this side could still reach the dizzy heights of top 8.

Meanwhile if SM is back for Tuesday, perhaps Jay needs to revert to central defence for this game

Ok we lost, but things seriously are getting better-

Over the last three games, we have only conceded one goal per game, and although it did'nt happen on Tuesday night, if we concede at just one goal per game, that will always give us a good chance of getting a draw or a win.

Except for two or three teams, most defences `in the Ryman are poor so we will always be in with a chance of scoring and thus winning; if we can just keep goals conceded down to just one per game.

What we can't do though, is to consistently concede two or more goals and thus have to score at least three goals per game.It just won't happen

You're right about the defence it generally doesn't look to bad. I do feel sorry for Louis Smith because he does as good a job as he can on the left. I still like him and Danny in the middle of the defence but when we're short at either left or right back it tends to be Louis that moves across. Having said that, I'm sure the experience will be good for him in the long run. And of course against leamington we had Ryan Peters at right back who is a forward - and judging by his efforts over the last couple of game - not a bad one. On form at the moment, you could put Jay anywhere in our side, and he'd look good. So we seem to have some degree of cover across the back although to my mind we do need a permanent replacement for Stuart Harte.

In the Club house after the game the Leamington fans were full of praise for our defence. No they weren't taking the yellow water
