I'm posting this now, as I think it's plain to see that the top spot is now realistically down to Canvey and the Shots, and any later you might well be in top place and this posting might be as seen a conceding!

 

Arguably we've more in common than just being the two title contenders, possibly also the two most despised set of teams in the Ryman League from other supporters perspective, down firstly to your continued (near success, which personally I hope continues <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)

 

Looking forward to a close run in on the title, let's hope that the run in is exciting and the game at Canvey is remembered for the right reasons.

 

Looking at the recent days sensible postings on the Shotsweb board by some of your fans, I would hope this will be the case.

Whatever the result, I'm sure it'll be impossible to forget that one in a hurry. As much as I want us to win the league, it is about time Aldershot pushed to get back into the football league, and should we go up this year I'd want them to follow us up in the 2003/04 season. They are a club with history and a massive fan base, and it would be great for all of the fans who have seen the team fall, reform, and repair if they could get back into the 3rd Division.

 

But saying that, I still hope we stick a hatful past you at the Lane this on April 15th!

A game that wouldnt beat last years game at stonebridge road?? ive heard estimates at a crowd of 6500, that place was packed to the rafters and could be heard from Swanscombe.

Whilst talking to a G&N supporter that day last season, he reckoned on a thousand or two more than the original shout of 6000+, he said it was just about as packed that day as it was when G&N played a league team a few years prior, afraid I couldn't remember the details he quoted.

Mind, I reckon the Aldershot game is going to attract additional attendance from other clubs in the area.

I think you will find that was the case with our game last season.

 

Top of the table clashes, especially potential championship deciders,

tend to arouse additional interest from the neutrals.

I think we can expect a lot of fans from Billericay and from Grays - all lending their support to a vocal Shots contingent. Should be an electric atmosphere. Get there early if you want a parking space.

 

BTW I've got a key to the floodlight switch, so just in case things start looking iffy - bring a torch. (I thought I'd say it before some sad basket case from G&N gets it in!)

jammer is a good call.. im thinking get out of work sharpish 3pm.. have a few pints in the half crown at benfleet .. cab to the jammer before the traffic gets bad..

few more pints there, stroll to ground for 6.45 ish get in the bar.. remembering above everything else to visit the gents before kick off..perhaps a hip flask for half time as getting a pint then will be out of the question..

When are we going to get a 1664 drip organised on the North stand so we don't have to keep queuing? Just take it intravenously throughout the evening. With a catheter plumbed into the portaloo around the back we could stand there in an alcoholic haze in seventh heaven.

Merv - You are talking technology, that is something we tend to be short of. So my suggestion should be nearer reality for us, how about 'Bucket and chuck it' saves messing about with cathiters. A tip though, try not to hold the bucket where someone else has peed on!!

I reckon that if any Sarfend fans do come down, they'll be backing us. We may have the local rivalry thing, but every Sarfend fan I talk to wants us to go up. As for Grays, they don't get any fans to watch them let alone us! Talking of Grays, i got the Grays v Canvey 2-1 video through on Tuesday. As I was on holiday at the time, it was good to watch. We really did give a good performance, can't believe Minton missed that 1 on 1 late on though!

When the saints beat both Canvey and Aldershot away and you two draw at Park Lane it'll set us up nicely for overtaking you both in the last couple of weeks!
