Dorking at Krooner

Bookham beat Woods 3-2.

If we had taken our chances in a good 20 minute 1st half spell we could have won.

In the end, we were lucky it was only 2-3 as we were pretty weak in the 2nd half.

Poor pitch at DFC doesn't suit our quick young players but BFC well worth their win. They worked harder all over the pitch!

Oh well, Clapton in the London Senior Cup Wednesday.

Roll on!!

Probably the best Bookham performance I've seen so far this season.

And it was nice to put another forum face to a regular poster !

The Official DFC report on the game at Krooner Park:-

"Dorking made the difficult looking trip to high flying Camberley Town on Saturday, but left Krooner Park feeling hard done by as another single goal defeat was suffered, this time Dorking having taken the lead in the first half, only for the home side to score a wonder goal just after half time, then secure all 3 points with a late winner.

This had always seemed a tricky fixture, especially given Camberley's recent form which had seen them smash 7 goals past Banstead Athletic and beat third placed Guildford City in the last few weeks. However, Camberley had lost to another form side, Epsom & Ewell in midweek, so Dokring perhaps saw a chink in the home side's armour.

The past week has seen some comings and goings in the squad, and with keeper Chris Roberts unavailable due to a family wedding, manager Tony Webb was forced to bring in cover in the form of Peter Ruggles, an on loan keeper from Molesey. Returning to the team though was Nick Brown after a half term holiday, while Adam Pero also returned after suspension to partner Alex Wheeler in attack, Marcel Dennis moving to right midfield, his more natural position. New signings Roy Newman, James Buckley and Russelle Williams also featured in the game. Dorking are expecting further signings this week for the visit to Raynes Park Vale in an important fixture for the side.

Dorking had the better fo the first half, and took the lead through Wheeler on 15 minutes, Wheeler pouncing on a free kick whcih was flicked on by Pero into his path. The goal gave Chicks confidence, and Dorking could have extended their lead before the interval, fully deserving their lead at half time.

No doubt having received a stern half time talk, the home side came out fired up in the second half, but it took a fine strike from 25 yards to draw the home team level 6 minutes into the second period, Jason Short firing an unstoppable shot from outside the box that gave the Dorking keeper litlte chance.

At 1-1 the game looked in the balance, both sides having chances, but it was Camberley who scored the all important next goal, Joe Parris heading home with 12 minutes to go.

Dorking did press for an equaliser in the remaining time available, without really creating any clear cut chances despite forcing corners and having good possession, a late penalty appeal also being turned down for the luckless Dorking side who were visibly disappointed to have lost a game they could have won at the final whistle.

Dorking now face Raynes Park Vale away on Saturday in the league, next home game is on Saturday 17 November when Bedfont are the visitors to Dorking."

the Dorking site obviously likes to make the best of any situation, perfectly natural otherwise it would be all doom and gloom and the table tells the true story.

Unfortunately such reporting when its also repeated in The Dorking ad sets the club up for ridicule, especially when the manager and club said Dorking would be promotion challengers at start of season.

Listen. If you read some of the match reports on our site I wonder if I have been to the same game. Most sides reports are done by fans and always tend to be a little biased to their side. For what it is worth I was told that Dorking were the poorest side we have played this season but that statement was qualififed by the fact that the person saying it also said we were appalling.

as far as Dorking goes the club decided a new start was necessary this season. Fair enough, up to the club and its owners.

What I dont like and will keep banging on about is the bull the club keeps putting out.

The start of the season they said they would challenge for a promotion place, had better players this year and more of them, had an ex league manager (and ex spurs centre half)on the coaching staff and books.

After a few bad results it was excuse after excuse, players on holiday, suspended, sick, injured, and a bit busy on Saturdays.

Now we are in the relegation spots its Plucky old chicks playing a far superior side, we were unlucky not to have been given a pen, we could have won if only we'd scored more goals than the other side.

And on the reporting what were the comings and goings at the squad BJR, you were teasing us last week with your transfer rumours, whats gone on? The club dont put the team and subs on the web anymore.

I didn't cut and paste the team-sheet. It is available on the DFC site for those that want to see it.

A new striker at Meadowbank may get a run out tonight, but if not, almost definitely on Saturday. The words 'Space' and 'Watch' spring to mind.

Unfortunately, a severe cold and cough excludes my attendance tonight. The Boss's orders, God bless 'Er !
