-----------------------------------------------------------------

It was a tale of two penalties at the NWG as an unlucky Brakes team snatched a draw from the jaws of victory and face a lovely trip to the seaside paradise of Margate on Tuesday.

Within 3 minutes Mackey finished off a beautiful move after some good link-up play by Dunkley and Josh Blake. He shot low into the corner to open the scoring. Dunkley then had two great chances to send Brakes further into the lead. He got between number 6 and the goalie to head the ball and the header went agonisingly wide. Minutes later JT and Marcus took a short corner from which JT chipped the ball into Dunks whose header went just wide.

Margate claimed a penalty when Charlie Side went down. The ref seemed more interested in telling Cadsy and Keith Orme to sit down rather than focusing on the game. Parky went into the book early on and Marcus picked up a booking later on.

The second half Brakes seemed in control of. Margate played some good pressing football but Reynolds, Parky, Hierhly seemed in control. Marcus then won a penalty as he was brought down in the box running onto a through ball. Mackey put the ball down. He began to run up, stopped and then hit it low and it was comfortably saved to the calls of 'justice' from the Margate bench.

Mackey nearly capitalised on a mistake by the number 6 as he latched onto a throughball which had been misjudged by the Margate defender. Going into goal his shot was again saved and Blake was denied on the follow-up.

Then Margate won a penalty within the last 10, when Blake seemed to bring down their man just outside the box. To the disbelief of the majority of the crowd the ref pointed to the spot. Mozza was sent the wrong way as Margate equalised.

Clunsey came on late for Mackey but it was too late. Game over to the disappointment of most of the 790+ attendance.

Brakes were unlucky today. Margate are a good outfit and seem well organised. Dunkley won a lot of headers in the first half but Margate got wise to this and in the second half his influence was reduced. Mackey, after a brillant start, was switched with Blake in the first 10 and lead the line with Dunks. It wasnt the best penalty and would usually put the one-on-one away comfortably on another day. Today wasnt it.

Reynolds and Hierhly were strong in the midfield. Josh Blake kept on running just behind the front two. JT - does this mean he is cuptied now ? and should we read more into the agreement by Nuneaton to let him play - and Marcus were threatening down the wings.

The defence was its usual reliable self. Parky plays with a lot of intelligence and composure and reads the game well. Adam Cooper and Ryan Parisi also had good games. Mozza, when called upon, made the saves. One moment of madness saw him on the edge of the box with his centre backs, but in the end Brakes dealt with the threat comfortably.

In fact during the second half you felt that Brakes were going to get the next goal and it was only through the intervention of the ref that Margate were presented with the opportunity to equalise.

It will be difficult on Tuesday night - there can be no denying that. But some of our fans will no doubt enjoy the trip to the coast.
